New Fit Audio Question(s)
New Fit Audio Question(s)
I'm new to the forums, so I posted this in the wrong place not knowing about this "Fit ICE" forum. Anyway, posting it here (again) in it's proper place.
Ok, so I've decided to get an '09 Fit Sport... and I'm psyched!
I'm deciding between two models, which, is the reason for this post.
I have a double DIN Pioneer stereo (CD/MP3/DVD, etc.) I want to install, but I know options for aftermarket systems for '09 model Fits are still being, uh, formulated... even Crutchfield says there are yet problems to be solved with '09 Fits before flawless aftermarket issues (installs) can be resolved.
I notice the square airbag indicator light on the nav system is located at the bottom of the nav unit, in the center of the dash/mounting plate. However, the airbag indicator light is located at the upper left-hand corner of the standard audio system unit. If I were to go with the standard audio unit (to save bucks on the nav unit. I'm not going to use it... why pay extra for nav!), will I be able to relocate the square Airbag indicator light to the bottom of the replacement mounting plate?
All aftermarket mounting plates I've seen (2 of them) have the indicator light located exactly where it's located on the nav system panel.
Also, If I go with the standard system, I don't believe they come with steering wheel mounted audio controls... I believe that's only for the nav units? Yes? No?
If I'm correct about that, will I be able to install (or have installed) steering-mounted controls for my aftermarket system? I used the Pioneer in another vehicle and the steering wheel controls did in fact control some of the audio functions on the unit... similar to original factory unit control.
So basically, first, I don't want to have to pay for the nav system when I'm only going to replace it immediately after purchase (or is it necessary to purchase the nav unit in order to be able to install an aftermarket system?).
Also, and secondly, I would like to be able to install the Fit steering wheel audio controls if I purchase my Fit with the standard audio system.
This making any sense?
Sorry for the long post. Any advice or corrections are more than welcomed. I'm purchasing VERY soon... so I must decide what to do quickly.
Thanks in advance for the help/advice.

See this long thread - https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...tml#post617194.
Towards the end of the thread, you'll find that Metra has an 09 Fit kit out now, so some of the earlier discussion re: the assorted Honda OEM parts may be less relevant.

Well, as they say "hindsight is 20/20." I have a 2011 with the navigation, and can't get my Sansa player to work (usb or aux cable input). I want bluetooth so I think I'll go cheap and try the Belkin Aircast ($70 amazon). Go to youtube for plenty of demo's on how it works. I bought this car for a dinghy (I think I'm the dinghy one). The navigation with voice commands works well, but if I had to do over I wouldn't get navigation and go with the aftermarket products.
i'm not sure what issues your referring to that need to be worked out. i have a double-din pioneer headunit (x930BT) installed and i added steering wheel controls as well to my non-navigation sport model. everything works as it should.
