Within 18" of the positive terminal, right?

I think any mech work that needs to be done under the hood would require the removal of the air-cleaner, or that would be an ok spot.

Where did you put yours, and how has that worked out for you?

I have a GE8, btw, not sure if there's much difference in that part of the car.

The 18" thing is a safety rule of thumb and should be considered the maximum length. The closer you can get it to the positive terminal the better, because if that wire gets severed in an accident it could start sparking and ignite fuel. The less wire between the terminal and the fuse the better!

 

I shortened mine to about 6 inches and ran it along with the positive battery cable, zip tying before it went to the back of the engine compartment. I try not to get too complicated with the location/position of it, because eventually you'll probably have to either replace or remove the fuse. I've seen people try to hide it, only to have to pull tons of stuff out of the engine compartment just to change the fuse!

 

I understand the reason for the short length, Mike, and I whole-heartedly agree. Shorter = better.

So, MetalFit, if i'm not mistaken you've simply zip-tyed the fuse holder to the stock positive lead?

That sounds too easy, what's the catch?

Mine's a GD, but I mounted mine on the top cover of the engine bay fuse box. Cover pops off to drill holes, got a couple small nuts & bolts, inline fuse sits right on top.

Yeah, it's pretty straight forward. The only problem I had was getting the power cable it self out of the positive battery terminal cover without looking all retarded like. But once I got it, it was fine. The rest of my install was a pain in the ass, mainly because of where I wanted to put the amps and the amount of wiring I've got. I'll do a write up some day. After I wash my poor Fit and take pictures.

 

Ok, I found a pretty awesome location, if I do say so myself.

There is a metal post that is bolted to the battery tray that holds wires which come out of the battery-top fuse-box. It is much longer than it needs to be, with enough room to bolt one half of the fuse holder in place, and zip tie the other (not enough room for two bolts).

The battery has been removed in this shot, and the angle is about midpoint of the car, pointing toward the front driver's side wheel well. I haven't mounted the lead off the positive post yet, because i don't have the amp yet.
