I’m not most people.

My hobby includes:

installing motors that don’t belong in a specific chassis
completely rewiring different generation engine harnesses and ECU plugs
rebuilding transmissions
rebuilding motors
rebuilding suspensions, including changing bushings
installing parts from other cars (like rear disc brakes)
proving the dealer than things can be done properly, for less money

It has gotten to a point that people around here are pushing me to quit my day job and open a shop.

So removing 10-15 screws, unclipping the 12V outlet and reinstalling a new armrest is not something I’d find difficult. I also tend to keep my cars for a long time, and we all know how valuable OEM accessories can be once they aren’t available from the dealer.

Sorry! I didn't mean to ruffle feathers.

I have done my share of engine replacements, exhaust fabrication and wiring.

I have been getting a lot of orders from "regular" guys who can't or won't want to do what it takes to install a full console.

For most people those armrests will be ideal. I'm just particular about some items, especially this one.

Question Differences in Folding vs. Non folding

Zeta,

The pics show the lack of a cup holder on the folding, but I really can't make out the internal storage size differences from the on-line pics?

How much different are they?

The screwing 4 holes into the existing cupholer / console is what discourages me from buying that one...

weight

Anybody know how much weight can be supported by those armrests? I have a consold dog (~18 lbs). The biggest reason for a Zeta armrest to me is someplace for him to sit.

They are pretty sturdy, but vinyl surface would make a pretty slippery and narrow surface for a pooch.(on the Zeta model anyway.)

This forum has a pic of the Mexico OEM armrest.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/california-southern-community/5278-oem-stuff-we-re-brining-fit-hot.html

Looks like it can slide forwards and back, like the Civic one, but does not fold up.

They also got some other nice accessories down there.

zeta, I wouldn't buy this now because

-I need to drill holes in my consol
-I would like one that folds up and include cupholders

Any chance of having these features modified? Thanks.

I wonder if there are any chances to get the OEM armrest in US?

AJ Racing was selling it for a while. Maybe they still offer it.

We are not planning to add a cupholder any time soon as there are cup holders in the rear doors.

The screws that come with the armrest are used to keep it in place. Good automotive double-stick foam tape will do the same thing. Just a thought.
