Does the Music Link use that connection point as well? In other words, if I have Music Link installed, can I still do this AUX jack workaround that you are working on?

 

No, the the Music Link used the 14 pin jack that is not labeled in the previous diagrams. It is essentially a CD-changer input. The device smeister found for around $100 uses that jack and is made for hooking up Sony CD changers, it just also happens to have RCA inputs. So you could have the AUX hookup and the Music Link. But from what I hear, the music link isn't really worth it - just use the aux input. So you could have a CD changer and an AUX input also.

 

Well, I actually had the MusicLink installed already- it's O.K., but I'd like to be able to use my older iPod and my iPod shuffle and not deal with the difficult interface that MusicLink makes you go through. So MusicLink goes into the unmarked 14-pin connection, I got that- which does the Aux jack wire go into?

 

The 20-pin connector B shown in the diagrams.

 

Is the power that's in the harness only on with the Ignition switch?

Any recommendations on a close place to tap always-on 12v power?

I am not too worried if it will work or not. I havent had time to install it yet. I have the cable and 3.5mm cable ready. I am probably going to soder the connections on it this week since I don't have the harness needed. I'll keep you all updated.

I did get to install my components and an amp which is a pretty nice upgrade to the stock speakers even with the stock headunit using a line output converter.

 

What are you going to solder? Are you going to solder the 3.5mm headjack/AUX port cable
directly to the 20-pin connector on the Honda head unit?

 

I'll soder the wires going from the 3.5mm to the back of the headunit 20-pin connection directly instead of using a harness. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

So, I did it. I ended up sodering the wires to the headunit instead of using pins. That way I dont have to worry about them coming loose. I'll have pics up later tonight. It was very easy to wire up once Gabes Dad hooked me up with the diagrams. I couldnt have done it without them. Thanks!

 

So there is no direct plug and play match for the base audio AUX back of the headunit to the Sport AUX wire?

I'm not too interested in trying to solder anything together....unless someone comes up with an easier solution, MusicLink for me I guess.
