iPod and Stereo Interface

Anyone have any tips for using a large capacity iPod with the horribly designed interface of the basic stereo in the Fit?

I know I can just use the Aux jack but I like being able to control the iPod from the dash and conceal it in the glovebox. However, what I don't like is trying to get to the White Stripes or Weezer by cranking the dial approx 90 times.

Also not being able to go back thru the menus once a song has been selected.

Is there an update to this at all from Honda? Or a hack? Anything?

Thanks!

I wish I could help. I just bought a Fit in Feb., if I want to listen to podcasts I have to turn on the podcast on the smartphone then plug it in to the USB or create a playlist, on my computer, and download to smartphone, which will show up on the dash navi screen.

I think the interface should be similar to that on the Sport model---while you cannot jump directly to songs, you can change playlists, go to artist or album. Once a song is playing you can skip over it forwards or backwards--granted not very efficient if you have lots of songs in you ipod, but if you make shorter playlists or sort by artist/album, you can scroll that album, artist or playlist and then skip over songs in either direction to get to what you want.

Warning: do not practice while driving

I thought I'd found a loophole with the voice command - hit the button on the bluetooth speakerphone, and say "Play songs by ____"

But the phone ignores outside commands when connected to the head unit.

Does anyone listen to audio books or podcasts? That's where I have to get creative, like creating playlists or starting the podcast before I plug the iphone into the USB.

As for the books you can't listen to them in audio book format (.m4b).
You'll need to convert them to mp3, however, with that said you'll need to turn on the info/options/Remember playback position (for each book) so it will save the location (bookmark).
Otherwise it really sucks trying to find the last place you stopped.

Hope this helps!
