Issue with AUX

I'm having an issue with my AUX input in my 09 Sport.
I've tried replacing the cable and using different devices to play the audio and i still get the same result of a crackling noise. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Change the ground straps, I had a discussion a while back and I remember that engine ground straps are the cause of most audio problems.

what bitrate are your running on your mp3s? i run lossless format for most and at least 320 kb per sec for the harder to find songs. the headunit and speakers on the fit are fairly good in terms of sound quality and poor quality mp3 files will be more apparent.

^ That and what kind of volume or equalizer settings are you using for both your Fit's head unit and device(s) as well as the volume level?

I for example used to hear a crackling sound once a certain volume level (15 and up specifically) has been exceeded. This was because I had my treble set too high on my Fit's head unit and used the acoustic setting on my iPod's equalizer which basically cranked up the levels of mid and high notes.

Before you end up swapping/buying any new aux cords or anything of that nature, try putting your head unit on its default settings (Normal, Bass 0, Treble 0, etc), level the volume for the music on your devices if you can, and put your put your device's equalizer settings on default/normal/flat. Once that is done, play the music on the device and check to see if there is any cracking from the Fit's audio system.

Let us know if that helps any.

bitrates in the 128 and below are prone to this problem regardless of what settings is made on the hu. on another note, how long have you been using the aux input? do you constantly remove and insert the 3.5mm trs? do you hear it more when the car is moving? the aux input hardware in the FIT is as cheap as it can get. it could be that.

this is my headfi portable rig which I sometimes use in car. these custom cable connectors are as good as it can get. but no matter of how good my cables are a weak link would make it useless... this weak link is the fit's aux input.
here's the link of my LOD to give you an idea http://www.whiplashaudio.com/elite-r...-dock-lod.html

Okay so update: I set it to all the normal settings annnnnnd now the AUX doesn't work all together. I tried a different AUX cord, I tried a different device... and literally NOTHING came out. Is this something I could fix myself or should I bring it to the dealership?

If your car is still under warranty, which it should be unless you have more than 36k miles, take it to the dealer. Preferably a dealer that you can trust.

The AUX should be repaired free of charge (under warranty) and if it happens to fail within 60 or 90 days, then bring the car back for the repair again free of charge.

Yeah my only problem with that is that I installed my amp and sub myself so if that happened to cause it (I doubt it did) I'm sure Honda will try to blame it on that =/ and we only have one honda dealership here in town lol so I don't have a choice =P

if your radio, CD player and ipod/USB inputs work fine, i'm betting on the aux port itself. i'm thinking one of the pins is making an insufficient connection to the plug.
