Been lurking like crazy since Thursday, when I went to pick up my Fit- just bought a 2011 Sport MT.
The previous owner had the stock shift knob replaced with the Mugen brushed aluminum knob. I don't mind the look of it, but it gets super hot in the sun and you can barely touch it. I'd imagine the same happens in winter and it would make your hand go numb.

I know that the heat/cold will wear off eventually during the drive, but I am not a fan- and not really interested in a cover of any kind.

Any recommendations on a carbon fiber knob? LED's would be a nice bonus.
I'm still learning so I dont really know who the legit parts suppliers are and which brands are crap.

 

I mean this totally depends on what your personal preference is on shift knobs.

If you like a lever style Spoon is good, it's like plastic resin so it won't get hot.

If you like ball style Cusco or Buddy club have plastic/resin ball knobs.


TWM makes probably some of the best for this since they're hybrid, poly outside and steel inside for weight. Be prepared to pay for them though they're NOT cheap. I think Mugen has a carbon fiber knob, it's also expensive. If you're looking for style points that's cool but it's kind of unnecessary.

I have the "Buddy Club Type A" (White Round) knob; it's a little larger than a golf ball and fits nicely into the hand. A good racing knob. It doesn't get untouchable and hot when the car has sat in the sun all day.

 

When I drove a manual civic, I had this Razo weighted shift knob. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg, is leather so no need to worry about the heat/cold, and it is weighted.

I too have the Buddy Club Type A.

I preferred it to my J's Racing Ti weighted knob to be honest.

 

I have a leather wrapped ball style razzo knob. Huge improvement over the stock golf ball. The weight makes more of a difference than you think it will.

 

check out Razo knobs. those are by carmate, made in japan (i think they're still made in japan..?)

also, if you like the type-r knob, check out the SPECTER by TWM.

does NOT get hot.

i also run the big type-r on my other car.

 

I really like my Password JDM knob. The problem I have with any shift knob is the screw height. I like a knob that has recessed threading so it's sits lower on the shifter for more feel and a somewhat shorter shift. Plus it looks nicer lower.

 

I had one of those Honda type-r shift knobs (polished metal with the etched red shift pattern) and it was definitely better then the stock one, but I wanted something with a little more weight. I picked up the DC Sport weighted shifted knob, and this thing is a beast!! It's 400g and you can really feel the difference with the weighted knob. Wasn't expecting to go with something this heavy, but I'm glad I did.. It's sext too, polished gun metal with DC sports etched around the top of the knob, definitely worth the pickup ;-)

From the FF forum, followed another member's lead and got a Blox. Its weighty and gives an improved shift motion. Since we don't have a winter here, no worries it turning into ice on those cold mornings!!!!
