Out of no where, sound to my speakers disappeared.
My radio turns on & the cd spins, everything seems fine,
except no sound comes out, no matter how loud I turn
up the volume.

Guess I'm gonna have to take it to the dealer!
I tried pulling the fuse, and what not, but the sound
won't come back.

 

sounds like either the internal amp fried or something simple as the output plug came loose from the back of the radio (doubtful unless you hit some really big potholes or wasnt assembled properly)
On a brand new vehicle I would take it in under warranty even if you were an auto radio guru you would be a fool to go messin with things.
The headunit is difficult to dissasemble actually for me it was a downright Pain in the neck to deal with.

took it to the dealer today, they are ordering a new unit for me.

 

they didnt even bother to take it apart and look at it or what? they may be ordering you a new one and goto install it then find a loose wire..

 

thats right, they did nothing.
Thats how most mechanics trouble shoot at dealerships.
They don't want to work!!!

 

Nothing like advanced diagnostic testing to determine the root of the problem.

Decision tree-
Got any sound?
Yes (then good-bring the car back when there is no sound)
No- Bad, replace sound system then check for presence of sound.

Next?

This is a good reason why not to do too many electronic changes to your new FIT that is under warranty.

If you did aftermarket upgrade then what?? You get to do the troubleshooting yourself or pay for it to be done.

At least they will try to fix it under warranty.

 

No need to take it apart if they don't have a replacement (from their view). If they order the part, it'll be instock for you - or the next person. No real cost to the dealership (dealer can correct me if I'm wrong on this).

From your side of it, would you want them to keep the car twice or try to fix it on the first visit. Depending on the dealership, they may let you insist on checking it out further but you'd probably have to schedule and/or leave the car.

Seems to me mostly like the shop manager should have explained it better.

Just got a call from the dealer, now honda is calling in an engineer from Alpine!!!
They are flying in from Japan, they are offering me a rental car.
They said that alpine wants to investigate why my stereo failed. so they can improve quality control, and prevent warranty work for honda!

 

it's more common then most people think for a new honda to need a radio, we replace alot of the new accord and oddy radio then you could imagine, i've been wondering for the longest time when i'll have to replace mine, so when it happens i'm not going to be suprised.
