Gold painted stock rims on VBP

This looks awesome!
I think that is what I'm going to do now to my stock wheels too on my NBP Sport!
What's the steps you took to paint them.
Also, did you remove the tires for painting or did you leave them on?
DIY Appriciated! Thanks!

As far as the lugs and center caps... I'm not sure. I kinda like how it looks now with the silver cap and the silver lugs. I need to find a honda sticker that I can use on the caps, then I'll probably just paint them to match.
As far as a DIY, I just used the other DIY from previous members on this forum. Took the wheels off 2 at a time using the donut and jack. Let the air out of the tires and used a roll of plastic sheeting, useing a screwdriver to push it inbetween the wheel and tire.
After that I sanded them down using 320 grit, masked off the valve stem and started painting. 3 coats of color and 2 of clear. I let them sit for about an hour until they were dry to the touch and mounted them back on the car then took took off the other 2 wheels. Same process then mounted those back. Moved the car onto the lawn and let it sit there for a couple days.

your wheels looks good! someone has one of those new wrx in my work parking lot and its ugly as hell, looks like a mazda 3 but with horrible taillights and a ugly grill, thumbs down to suburu on that car.

I didn't use primer, the paint said it didn't call for it so I decided to save some money. I plan on getting some aftermarket wheels in a month or so in gold, I just did this kinda to tide it over and make sure I liked gold on the car.
I bought 2 cans of color, and even with 3 coats and some touch-up sprays there's quite a bit left in each can. I only had to use one can of the high heat clear, but I bought two.

Wow man, that was such a good idea, love how they came out. Definitely scooby style!
And as for the new scooby, lets not even go there, i am so disappointed in their latest styling, its lost all its aggressiveness. Put the new one next to the new Evo X thats coming and which would you choose? i know which one i would go for!

Thanks for the comments!
We finally got some sunlight up here in CT so I snapped a picture. Sorry for the quality I had to crop into it, I zoomed in right after but the clouds already rolled in lol.
This portrays the color about 95%.
This picture also accurately shows the color when it's cloudy.
It's a pretty interesting color, it goes from bright gold to a dark bronze.

Beautiful Wheels!
I also like the red/black ones of the above poster. They look gorgeous sprayed, definetely going to spray mine.
What matches NHBP though? Happy to take suggestions!
Very well done again, absolutely beautiful =)

Yeah I love the way the stock wheels look, they really go well with the car so I didn't wanna totally ditch them for something new.
Lucky for you black goes with just about anything, black, silver, white, gold, bronze, blue. Nothing will really clash bad with it since it's such a neutral color.

luv the paint job...if ur looking to go aftermarket u should go with some gold volk racing rims...they look good with blue cars...but i personally think ur wheels are already nice...the dark gold tone is really nice

Yeah I really like the gold I found for these stock wheels, I'm just not sure how long it will hold up.
What got me started on gold wheels on the Fit were the Kosei K3 in Emery Gold I found on Tirerack. I really like the color and the 17" really fills out the car but I'm just worried about that extra weight and rotation on such a small and low powered car.
