Back on the Track

Well, another weekend, another track event. This one was at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI. Beautiful scenery, nicely paved track, safe run off, and, unexpectedly, rain. Had a lot of fun, raced for 4 hours between 3 cars, including my last car, the RX8, and found out that the Fit is succeptible to all sorts of fun oversteer when pushed in less than ideal conditions. If people didn't know any better, they probably would have thought my little red wedge was rear wheel drive...
Enjoy the photos of myself severely outclassed by a Porsche 997 GT3, two Lotus Elises, a Lotus Exige, and other full out race cars. I guess that's what I get when I tell them that I was born on the track...

The first corner, still on stock Dunlops...

At one point, we tried to fit 225 tires on my Fit... Rubbing = no fun, back to the Dunlops I went.

A nice motion shot of an 06 STi

Miata in motion

Coming around corner 4

The Lotuses(Lotusi?) at play- these guys and girl(!) were fun to watch!

They still ran pretty close in the rain...

The first racing in the rain- eye opening experience.

Look closely, you'll see full opposite lock and the back end of the car just stepping right out.

Here's an artsy shot I took of the other two cars I raced that day.

So that's what I did this weekend- I recommend that everyone go out to the nearest track and go racing! More photos to come this weekend...

You are so lucky, and I am green with envy. That looks like so much fun.
I want to powerslide too
Its funny how you mention Lotuses (Lotusi), Ive always wanted to ask a Toyota salesman what the plural of Yaris is. One Yaris, many ????

Haha looks like great fun! Ive raced sport bikes on a wet track and it was like ice, so i have respect for how hard it is to race on wet tracks lol! Those 'Lotuses" looked great out there together!

Nice! What was the offset on the wheels with 225's? I ran them with a 45mm offset. Little rubbing. Thee offset looks a little exteme, 35-25mm.

Yea, the offset was +38... Works great on my friend's Civic Si, but the Fit wouldn't have it. Hopefully a +41 offset will work...

True, the other thread was me racing. This one is just a track event, more pretend racing than anything. Still fun though.

Looks like fun! It is always nice when you can get out among other like minded people and just have a blast like that!
