leather in winter

Genuine Honda JDM leather shift knob with Mugen shift boot... I didn't like the factory shift knob that came with the base model fit and I didn't really like the accordion boot. I actually had the OEM Aluminum shift knob installed before this leather one but it was waaay to cold to touch during the winter... I also had the Spoon shift knob which was more comfortable to touch than the aluminum but basically this leather feels a lot better in this freezing weather.

yeah, especially in those pics that i took at night with flash. the boot in real life looks actually darker than it does there-- it looks gray in those pics. i admit the shift knob looks kinda funky with that boot but i'm just using it for the comfort during wintertime.

Questions for those of you who changed to mugen or universal leather boot.

1) Did you need to cut out the inner ring of the boot ring as shown in this link? Because I want to install one universal boot that looks similar to the one in this link https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...-tutorial.html

2) How do you make the top part of the boot look like it's connected to the knob? Example from the same link above, the boot has a cricle wrap on the top, but it's not showing after installed to the car.

Thank you!

I have the Mugen shift boot and I simply pulled off the rubber boot and replaced it with the Mugen. There are little metal tabs on shift boots so I just bent em a little bit and slipped them into the slots in the boot ring/center console. That's it.

I couldn't get the boot to look connected to the shift knob. As for the leather knob that I have (see post above) it had little retainer like arms on it that helped hold up the boot but most knobs don't have that so the boot will sag a little.

Hope this helps.

Is anyone using a twist-on knob that sit low on a stock shifter + skunk2 adaptor kit combo? I have a hex-tighten one, but it gets loose overtime.

The Spoon knob sits really low. It threads on, then has a set screw to keep it from moving. Hasn't budged on me yet.

I'd like to see more leather ones. I have an LX model here in Canada and the shift knob is just plastic so I'd eventually like to change it.

I love the look od the Skunk2 one and the metal honda accesory one but they get quite cold during the winter and really hot in the summer So I'd probably like a leather one.

Anyone using one from an EP3?

The 1st leather shift-knob I had was "RAZO PERFORMANCE M/T SHIFT KNOB: LEATHER (BLACK)": [RAZO PERFORMANCE M/T SHIFT KNOB: LEATHER (BLACK)-Options Auto Salon]

My current leather shift-knob is "MOMO SHIFT KNOB: TALL ANATOMIC (BLACK)": [Anatomico-Options Auto Salon]

Both knobs are with the Mugan short-shifter--I like the notchy shifting feel. I also prefer the tall shift knob. I don't have to reach very far or lean any to reach the shift knob & shift.
