But as the old saying goes, if even one person is influenced and just one life is saved as a result it is still worth it.

Sugarphreak, Its your decision to do what you want with this thread dude. I dont want me and my peeps supporting the vids to be a cause of misconduct on the forums.

i still think its wrong to censor user content. if they want to say something or do something, within a certain limit, it should be allowed.

I found the videos entertaining and informative. What more could one want? It is sad just how slow the Fit is though. Driving it is fun, but seeing them in action reminds me just how slow they are. My not fast v8 Explorer is a full second quicker in the quarter, but not as much fun.

Your two cars with different mods are ubelievably close. I'd be interested to see one of your cars compared to a bone stock Fit...see if the mods made a big enough difference to justify the expense.

One of our puerto rican fit owners is only running an intake, headers, and a cat back, and he ran a 15.8(with slips and videos as proof), so your v8 explorer is SMOKIN! :-P

A downpipe would add additional power to his car, maybe even getting him into the mid 15s, and I wouldn't consider that SLOW! Maybe just... not TOO fast. lol.

Now.. with those mods and a 50 shot of nitrous.. :-D

Agreed...not slow just not fast either. My Explorer is only a little faster than that Fit, but it's not stock either Helps that it started life with 292 hp. That's a good time for a Fit. I need to take my wife's to the track and see what I can do with it.

Ok guys, here is the break-down plain and simple.

We mods/admins have been discussing this subject more than you'll ever know.

Here is the issue: the forum cannot be liable for illegal activities. Period.

If you film yourself or a friend engaging in any illegal activity (including, but not limited to street racing) and post it here, or you write a story where you discuss yourself or a friend engaging in any illegal activity, then the post/vid will be removed. Period.

After much investigation, it was determined than indeed, this video was filmed on private property. After consultation with law enforcement officers, various state penal codes, and a lawyer, it was determined that the participants in the video did NOT break the law. The reason: they were on private property.

Thus, the video stays.

But, if you post on here anything, whether it be a picture, a video, or just a story, and it involves illegal activities, then the thread/post with be removed.

Is that simple enough to understand? There won't be any debating or arguing, whatever the decision of the moderating/admin body is, goes.

Guys, and gals, this in no way is an attempt to take away your fun or turn this site into some kind of dictatorship, this is simply the way it's been decided that we can have a lot of safe fun, and keep the board and it's members free from possible recourse in the future from any litigation, whether civil or criminal.

the other day I pulled up next to this guy at a stop sign, he was reaching down to take a swig from his water bottle, so I knew I had the advantage...

i came up next to him, honked my horn three times, and I was off! ...he was up to the challenge, though, he had caught up with me in my prideful moment, but I wouldn't let him take me. I pushed all of my strength into the race, I could feel the sweat oozing from my pores, but the adrenaline was undeniable. I had to press on; then suddenly, I heard a grinding sound and I feared the worst. To my surprise, it wasn't me, but the other guy, I turned back to see him grimacing, his chain had fallen off.

I pedaled off into the sunset, knowing that the better racer, and the better tuner(obviously, I chain grease often) had won.

i just dont understand how posting an account of something you did, illegal or not, makes a forum liable in anyway? you did it already, in the past, outside of the forum. how does that make a forum liable?

Contact a lawyer, or do some legal research on the intraweb. Corporate liability.

Why do companies take out liability insurance policies?

And free speech does not cover the admitting or promotion of criminal or violent acts.

If we have free speech, why can I be arrested for making verbal threats to someone in person or even on the phone? I can be charged with assault or terroristic threats even if I never laid a hand on someone. Even a felony. But what about free speech???? Doesn't apply to criminal acts.

Whether you understand why or how a company can be liable both criminally and civil-wise, it's there, so just accept it. It's doesn't matter whether you understand it, agree with it, or anything. It's life. Not to be rude, it's just a fact. Period.

^^^^ Especially considering in the US you can sue for slander... basically voicing your opinion about somebody else How retarded is that!!

I think also in the US if they can't hold the forum liable they will get a court order and can demand the release of information for the member. Maybe you havn't given out enough info, so they can trace your IP back to the provider and then demand they release the information so they can sue or press charges to your sorry ass. Really they are protecting you as much as themselves here.

Theoretically if you post a video where you do something illegal, there is a possibility you could end up being pressed with charges for it later on.

Luckily in Canada we have privacy laws that prevent that still, although the record/music companies are trying to tear those walls down. Also you can't sue for slander in Canada yet either, although both things are probably around the corner as the current government continues to take our privacy rights away. at least you guys still have firearms rights!

fellow fitfreakers,

although everybody has excellent points, I just want to say that this forum ( out of the many car forums out there) is my favorite. The posts here make me laugh ... cry. .. and really feel part of a Fit community . Although the members make the forum, the moderators have done an excellent job in guiding this forum in becoming the excellent forum it is today. Illegal or not, let's respect the moderator's choice. just my 2.

Thumbs down

Ive been on alot of automotive forums and fitfreak.net is the only one I have ever seen have an issue with this,sh!t S2ki.com has a section dedicated to STREET ENCOUNTERS and not only is the site 10,000 times bigger than fitfreak but the forum has not been held accountable for anything.
sooo ridiculous

/run on sentence rant
