Need pics of Tein Basics on a Fit
#22
damn ray you have been on this thread all day!
so is it safe to assume everyone here thinks that the main benefit for coils is looks? what about performance? anyone remember that little thing called function over form?
if you like the way the teins sit, than that is all that matters! i personally would just like to eliminate wheel gap, but i find that bettering the fits already awesome stock handling should be more of a priority.
my biggest issue with them is still the price.
as far as d2's are concerned...the product sounds awesome, but how long have they been around? because they have an awful lot of applications...did they really have time to r&d them all?

god damn it's so hard to decide...so Tein's don't go superlow. That's not a concern. I just want a one finger gap or less on all 4 corners. As well as improved cornering stability, and less harsh over bumps and dips. I don't know shit about D2s, so I'm not sure about that. Endura-techs were the first brand I was going to get, but kenchan's doesn't go low enough for one-finger status. Correct me if I'm wrong. Tein's have no damper adjustability...skunk2 and t1r are the standard but skunk2 has extreme spring rates like 12k/8k....t1r would be the best choice I suppose at 6k/6k. TOOL is selling a set, but he said something needing a tap and die. I don't want to have any issues when installing them. Someone else sell me T1Rs for cheap please lol

Teins ride a little stiffer than stock. The tire gap issue varies. When I ran my stock wheels and tires, I tuck a little tire front and back. Now I am on 195/50/15s and there is no gap. If money is an issue, buy Tool's T1Rs. That's a good deal.

yo tool I've been meaning to ask you about your coilovers and how to use a tap and dye. I dunno wtf that means lol It's either yours for $640 shipped or the other dudes' skunk2 for $850 ;/

you would use a die to rethread a piece of bar. think of stripping a bolt. a die puts new threads on that bolt. a tap puts new threads in a hole. like if you stripped a nut. a tap is used to put new threads in there.

Its not hard at all dude. Kyler seemed to explain perfect. You can borrow or buy a tap and die set easily.

just go to your local harware store and ask the guys there in the tool section about it. they will be more than happy to show you how to do it. getting indiviual sizes is not that expensive. you will probably end up spending maybe $20

I guess a shop could do it for me...Tool hold onto them, maybe clean them up a bit lol I'll take em on the 15th. Screw the skunks. Too expensive. I got eyelids and shaved hatchpiece to get painted!
