how it all started was, the old vw's (mostly driven by surfers and beach bums)
would have meets, and since the beach goers would park their cars by the ocean the majority of the time, the salt in the air from the ocean makes the bodies rust badly. it became a status symbol because it meant that you spend more time at the beach than the next guy, then the guys with the newer vw's got jealous so they started doing it. the honda fan boys didnt know what to do after body kits and big wings went out of style, so they stole the vw style.

The only rust I approve of is that bmw with the trailer at import alliance this year. That thing got so much coverage haha.

haha im not frustrated, i was just educating someone on how the style was created. that really is the story of how it started in southern california. i dont think you understand, ALL my friends are hardcore dubbers. i am the lone honda in my group of friends and i have to hear them bitch about how honda steals vw styles all the time.

 

good thing vdub doesnt have a k motor to swap or all honda guys would be dreaming of plagurism.

 

dude, vw guys are uber snobs. one guy put an r32 engine into an s4, was making about 550WHP and people were APPALLED!! no way in hell would any of them think about swapping a honda engine into their cars with a straight face.

claps.........WOW!!!!!!!!!. a V6 making 550whp compared to a inline four 2.0 liter! which can go beyond 550whp my bud has a 2006 honda civic si making 640whp thats a lot more than the r32 and plus there is a company in central florida which has a k20 at 900 something hp........
