Rickys hood beginning stage!!

this guy's only a couple hours away from me, i guess he's not on any forums, that's why he's so original
I don't mind the rusted hood trend if it's executed correctly, but I personally would have left the hood like this, and had a body shop clear coat it. Mirror finished hood for the win. lol
This would be pretty cool.
I agree big time..... That is what it is really all about anyway.
I love how everyone says " polish it and clear it". IT would look sick, but isn't that easy....You will probably just end up with a rusty hood eventually.
Every automotive clear will delaminate if sprayed directly over bare metal. They are intended to bite into a prepared painted surface, not a bare substrate. The O2 will get underneath it and cause the metal to rust.
POR15, however, does make a few clears that claim they can go over bare or polished metal. So if someone does do this, please at least use the POR15 clear.
If you just spray a regular automotive clear it will rust underneath and delam for sure!
For the record, I do not care for the rusted hood thing. It makes less sense to me than Donks!

Yes it does. As does the grinder marks with candy over them.
They certainly look cool. But aren't most SEMA vehicles customized just weeks before the show? I would like to see what they look like 6 months or 1 year down the road.
