What happens when a guy like me is sitting around watching TV and gets bored?

He decides to do something pointless as well as rediculous. Something along the lines of polishing his key.

Sorry about the lack of updates guys. I started a new job and between that and powder coating for my business I have been slammed.

I got the Star Specs mounted for this last weekends autocross. Well, one of the tires was mishaped badly enough it wouldn't balance out so I called Tire Rack and they are shipping me out another one right away and reimbursing me labor cost. I am very happy with the customer service I received.

However, that means I was unable to race this last weekend and also didn't get any chance to take many pictures because I was working the booth for my new job while we were there.

Next event is at my favorite place, a small go-kart track and hell or highwater I will be racing. If I have to I will co-drive with someone, but the Fit should be ready to roll by then.

With any luck I may have a Progress rear sway in by then be we will see.

 

Got my new tire and am waiting to get it installed when I get some free time. Should hopefully solve my problem. I also ordered some Torque Solutions Shifter Cable Bushings. Install and results will be to come.

 

Got some work done in the last couple of days. I went ahead and did a transmission fluid change. To my knowledge the fluid is original to the car and if that is the case it has about 51,000 miles on it.

I changed the fluid to Amsoil's Synchromesh MTF. The shifting was a lot smoother afterword and engagement seemed easier as well. This is what the old fluid looked like.



While dark, the fluid looked good and appeared to not have any concerning debris in it.


I also bought a set of Torque Solution's Shifter Cable Bushings and installed them as well. I took pictures because I plan on posting a DIY. There is actually already a couple, but none that appear to have pictures.

I am not going to post the DIY here since it is kind of pointless to do it twice, but I will post a link to it here.

Anyway, I do like the difference. As others have pointed out it gives the shifter a more solid feel. Gears seem to be found easier and feel like they are slotting into position with a solid higher end feel.

Overall a cheap and effective mod that is worth the money and is a good way to get a little more out of your Fit.

 

I'm glad you got the nasty ass old transmission fluid out of your car and put the good stuff in it... I am watching anything and everything involving the cable bushings. I need to change my transmission oil too.. It is getting pretty close to the 50000 mile mark.

Alright guys, got the Fit home and looked at. Apparently my axle decided it didn't want to have splines anymore. Anyway, Honda covered it under warranty and the Fit is fixed and back in my driveway. Should still be good to make my Auto-X this weekend.

 

The axle bolt wasn't torqued tight enough.

 

Hate it when that happens lol

I'm thinking TCs on the money with that.. any reason why they might only be partially engaged? Did they fail at the root?

 

Just looked like they sheared from the end to in the middle. Not sure how many, 5-7 splines probably.

 

Had my first Auto-X Yesterday (Saturday) Details as well as some video to come.

 

Okay, here is the info and video I promised. The race was done on a kart track local to me and we usually do 4-5 events here a year. It is a popular enough venue it has its own "point series" with classing that is frankly vague and unbalanced. Never the less, I won't know my position until the final results become public in a few days.

Here is some information on the track:
Length: .6 Mile
It has 10 turns and elevation changes. The track is 26 to 30 feet wide paved with asphalt and concrete. There are two 400 foot straightaways connected by an 80-degree turn.

The way sessions are run are with a half lap warmup and then two full laps. The milk crates have the timing equipment on them. These videos will both begine right as I start my first real lap.

My first run of the day was better than I expected, but I quickly realized I had to be easy on the throttle mid-corner to avoid inside wheelspin. My second lap was a tad bit quicker and resulted in an overall time of 1:31.75

My second run, I was more gentle on the throttle mid corner and this resulted in higher exit speeds. I also was a little later on the braking which helped the rear end of the car to rotate into turns. My overall time was a 1:29.9 my fastest of the day.

My third run was a solid throwaway as I tried a new line and some different braking techniques. Being too aggressive with the braking cost me and I ran my slowest time of the day. No video required, haha.

I also got some in car video, but haven't had a chance to review it yet. If it is worth looking at I will get it posted as well.

Well, sold the carbon fiber manifold cover, so I had to do something unique with my stock one to stay different.

 

Had another NQS event on this past Saturday. Same rules and details as above. Day went quite a bit better and I ended up finishing 4th in my class out of 18 and 34th overall out of 94 cars.

I do have some random car mounted video of each run. (Windshield, Front Bumper, Rear Bumper) I will post those shortly, but wanted to get these posted now.
