thanks all....

the adjuster just left not too long ago...he said from his assetment body parts and obvious replacement parts is around 3,500.00 so far....thats not including body work, frame work, engine (frame bumped the motor pretty bad....belt rubbed the chassis) so yeah he still thinks its fixable....which scares me.

day 2:

adjuster called again and said its a good possibility they are gonna be able to repair it. the shop has the last call however depending on the chassis and framework. also the deductible is 500 which my adjuster said they are trying to get from the other driver since theyve determined i was not at fault. and in any case my uninsured would pick that up as well. so total or repair nothing outta my pockets either way.

car is being picked up today and sent to shop for final estimate write up and approval by shop manager to see if frame is fix-able.

Well I hope you do ok and that there are no other areas of hidden damage.

I doubt the person that hit you will have the $500 to pay for the deductible. I'll cross my fingers.

If they say they can fix it then fine. If after fixing it doesn't drive well then you have the option to sell. Let us know if it does do ok though.

Hopefully the frame is OK or can be repaired.

My '82 civic sedan got hit by a camaro in the first week of ownership and after the door was fixed it never closed with as good a seal as originally but I kept it for a long time before I sold it.

yeah im actually going down to the shop thats doing the repairs in a bit and were gonna talk about the chassis repair. as far as if its as good as new....progressive gave me a lifetime warranty on the shop and repair so if somehtings not right after the repairs i call them and they schedule a day to take it in and fix it. kinda good i guess. so i have some faith in there claims and warranty.

I was in an accident about two months ago - after fixing everything (front end collision also) it was nearly $10,000 worth of damage (airbag deployed also) and they didn't total it. My car drives JUST THE WAY IT DID BEFORE. So to all those who say it wont drive the same - your experiences are not everyone else's. Had they totalled my FIT I would not be able to get another one and I even work at a Honda dealer - there just isn't any available. The FIT is a uni-body car so I was told if there is damage to the frame then that may not be worth fixing. I'm happy to have my FIT back regardless of what it's been through. You'd never know mine was even in an accident by looking at it or driving it.
But I am sorry to hear about your accident. Scary stuff. I'm still incredibly cautious driving my car. There are too many stupid people out there. But if they don't total your car - it can be fixed back to the same. I would just send it to the most repuitable body shop. Hope everything works out for you!

thanks for teh words of encouragement. yeah i hear ya on the fit being totaled how it would be a pain trying to find another one. we went through progressive and they warranty the work as long as we own the car so if anything goes wrong i can get it fixed again.

so yeah im waiting on both my cars now.

I've had so many close calls, but there's nothing worse than having an accident happen without even having a chance to take evasive action -- and then to top it all off the other driver is completely irresponsible, not even carrying insurance. Probably would try to blame the other driver rather than take responsibility. My sympathy! Hope you get a nice, new Fit out of the deal. Hope the other driver's vehicle got smashed so she'll have to do without a car for awhile. At least the Fit did its job protecting you, you didn't get hurt, and maybe she'll be off the road for awhile so she can't hurt anyone!
