Thumbs up SSM Fit R.I.P. ... but got a new one now!

Driving back to work (just had lunch with the wife) and im sitting at a light waiting to turn left onto the 5 South. notice the oncoming traffic was coming to a stop....arrow turned green and i headed onto the on ramp and before i can fully turn the wheel....

BAM!

now this should be nice and straight....

Girl who hit me was behind another car which came to a stop so she went to the far left lane of oncoming to "try" to beat the light....obviously she didnt....i didnt notice her come out from behind the other car until my light was green and and already moving to the on ramp, by then it was too late....

ther other car was not registered in her name and no insurance

needless to say cop gave her a nice ticket to take care of and a court date to talk about the registration issue. as for the fit.....may it rest in peace....

make sure that the claims adjuster total out the car. Your car will not drive the same after they try to fix it.

iam sorry to hear another loss of a car..
it appears the whole engine bay would have to be remade.. pretty much the whole front half of your car.. iam going to assume now that its totaled.. id be pissed at the chick just because the only thing they are/can do i think is to give her a nice ticket and she will be on her way.. id sue!

yeah im hoping its totaled....even if its an awesome repair....i would still have a really tweaked chassis....

and god forbid it happens again that whole side will be weak and be worse next time.

so yeah hope this goes quick so we can jump back in line for another fit....

Glad to hear you are OK.

Bad accident, sorry to hear about your loss.

She had no insurance? The car was not in her name and not insured?

What makes you think she will show up for the court appearance?

Probably will just be a fugitive and go out and drive again with a warrant on her name.

My wife was rear ended by an old disoriented man, he stopped, looked at her then drove off. Police said the car was not registered for 5 years and there was no insurance. Likely the man had no driver's license since he did not stick around. Thanks alot.

BaM!

Glad that you are alright. The Fit looks like it absorbed the impact very well....everything crumpled and absorded the impact.

Yours is the second Fit to have a severe front end impact (the deer strike was the other) without the airbags going off. I thought that the airbags were suposed to expand in less than a 15mph ( or there abouts) impact and both yours and the deer strike appear to be enough that the impact should have activated the airbags.

I'm begining to have concerns if the air bags will go off when and if we really need them.

The uninsured motorist that hit you is the reason I have uninsured and underinsured coverage. Seems like the only people who have accidents in California also don't have insurance.

Sorry to heear about this. Hope you get your Fit or a replacement back soon.

Ugh My friend and her boyfriend were just in an accident where some stupid, uninsured, non-licensed idiot in an unregistered vehicle ran into their car (didn't even bother to brake before the impact), and the car's pretty much totaled. He only got off with a ticket, as well, even though he's apparently an illegal alien who has lived in the US for six years and has no SSN or other valid ID - that's an arrestable offense, but the cop didn't feel like taking him in. Double ugh.

So sorry about the Fit Glad you're all right.
