Lowering Springs
Lowering Springs
I've got a 2007 Fit Sport that is slowly turning into a LeMons racer/track day toy. Currently, the car is sitting on stock suspension and 1" wider wheels and 205 section tires. No rubbing or scrubbing. Unless we hit some massive potholes... then the rear scrubs (but that fender rolling/camber project is for another day). I'd love to dump $1000 into cheap coilovers, but (if you don't know how lemons works) that goes into the $500 budget. On the flip side, I could just get some lowering springs with stiffer spring rates and it'd cost me $250 and would be far more financially manageable.
So, my question is it... Should I go coilovers and risk blowing the budget, but have matching springs and dampers? Or go full cheapo lemons and just replace the springs and pray to God that the 190k mile dampers hang on for dear life?
I want to end up running 225 section tires in front, so I don't have a lot of lowering room to work with. Therefore, I'm not looking to slam the car. Just drop it an inch or so to lower the CoG and stiffen up the suspension a bit.
