I don't think there's any 5way SHOWA shocks & springs setup under SPOON.......I meant there shouldn't be that BIG of a difference between SPOON & Mugen's valving design.

My bro got it from Ben. Probably the one and only set of SPOON GD3 damper in Vancouver.

The member's name is ap20na2 he basically is only on the site to sell stuff and he was the guy that I purchased the mugen header from. Its kinda hard to get a hold of him, but after seeing him sell his T1R suspension to go back to Mugen only after a week or so, solidified my choice to go for the Mugen suspension. The only reason he gave me for the switch back to the Mugen was that the Mugens were better, I'm assuming provided better grip. I would still like to hear MugenDom chime in on this to get his opinion on his setup. From his previous post he sounded disappointed that he didnt get a showa shock, but he didn't say anything regarding the performance.

I pm'ed Mugen Dom .. I dunno him and Ben just seemed really dissapointed... I don't think the fact because the shocks were KYB, but in general how the car behaved after he put em on.. like a "bouncy" feel to it and soft around the corners... specific words were:

The suspension was super bouncy. Handling was ok, better than stock of course, but not as good as I thought it would be. The springs are not progressive and I can not get King to tell me what the spring rates are. I removed my Mugens to replace them with T1R coilovers at the moment.

I have a feeling that the suspension is the way it is because it was designed for the JDM Fit. When you put them on a USDM Fit, the dynamics of the car are completely different than the one it was designed for.
pretty much on the opposite side of the spectrum of ap20na2's opinion.. unless he really hated the T1R's and just thought the Mugen's were his next best choice

well the setup will be different only because the T1R springs are progressive whereas the mugen's aren't... that may explain the bounciness or softness in turns...

Although I can't speak for Dom but I DO think that's one of the main reason that a Mugen fan dislike the Mugen setup.

But no matter what, it really can't be that bad even that's made by KYB. KYB and Showa are both good. At least they're quite a bit better than Koni yellows on a civic/integra IMHO.

I'd say don't worry too much.

I have to worry, well I don't, but this will be the last first and last suspension I'm going to be getting for the car.. I know down the road there will be other things that come out, but I'm done with all the tinkering and "upgrading" ... too much $... I've been a Mugen fan for a while too, and Had a bunch of Mugen stuff on my Ep3 and thought the quality was second to none.. that's why initially, I had no worries with this suspension... it was only after hearing from Mugen Dom and Ben at AJ with their opinions that got me a little worried

I had koni yellows and H&R Sports on my ep3 before I switched to Teins and thought that was a decent ride... so if this Mugen Sports Suspension is similar, I think I'll be happy

Regarding Dom's statement, like I said before the USDM fit and JDM are not the different, we are probably talking maybe less than 70lbs at the front and rear of the car combined due to length. This might be just the way the car was setup by Mugen. My major concern with the suspension regarding it running KYB struts was in fear that Mugen simply slapped their brand name on the KYB 5 way struts. That was cleared up by one of the employees at King yesterday who seemed to be very knowledgable about their product line. Probably when it gets down to it its personal preference. I can understand what MugenDom is saying and that is a very valid concern, but I find it very hard to disregard what ap20na2 did. The T1R suspension is quite expensive and to get rid of it at a tremendous loss after only one week says a lot about how he felt regarding the two. I feel both products are both good choices, the only thing I can really do now is report back after I receive my suspension, hopefully one of these days I'll be able to take back to back rides in a T1R equipped car against my own to compare.

you're right.. at the end of the day it's all personal preference.. and you can't always judge what others have said.. unless the test group is large enough.. in this case it's as small as you can get it...

did the Rep at Kings say anything specific about the Mugen SS? or the 5-way adjustable? you ended up getting the 5way? what's brand are teh struts that are on it? it's non height adjustable right? when you getting it?price wise the T1R's are not that expensive really compared to the SS's.. will be similar priced to the 5-way's ... ya, I guess to get rid of the T1R's to go back to the Mugen's DOES say something.. but at the same time, he DID also want something else instead of the Mugen's (meaning they weren't as good as he thought they would be) unless he really just wanted to get something that was height adjustable.. everyone has their own reasons I guess..

we've beaten this topic to death almost with little results.. I'm still on the fence.. and just debating if it's worth waiting for the T1R dampers to come out..... but there aren't any progressive springs out there with a really mild drop (ie. 1") .. so I may just stick with my original plan and get the SS's ....

We'll make sure you keep right on going You'll start having nightmares of Mugen coilover systems and body kits and oil caps with fitfreak members chanting "you know you want them...you know you want them." You'll have no choice but to get them. haha

LOL! I'm pouring money into my car at the rate of 50% of my monthly earnings. Good thing I still have 3 years of college ahead of me with my masters degree and I'm still living with the parents. Girlfriend isn't in a rush to get married or move in together so the car gets 50% of the money, the g/f gets 25% and my basic needs get the other 25%.

Unless something really bad happens my fit will be a track prepped street car in about a year. And UH OH!!! In a month I'm getting my salary doubled as I'm becoming the a department head in my company. OH SNAP!!!!
