List of Suspensions that WORK! (please list your WORKING set up)

Hello all,

Okay, I'm going to try to start this thread so the information will be clearly available for everyone. What I'm trying to do is get a list of suspensions that WORK! Not those that Rub. This information is scattered all over the forum and is inconsistent and hard to find

So here is how it should be done:

List the following:
  • Wheel type, size, offset, etc
  • Tire size, type, etc
  • which Springs or coils and the drop
  • Add one picture if possible
**IF YOUR SET UP RUBS, PLEASE DO NOT LIST IT**
Even if it ONLY rubs with 4 people in the car. That qualifies as rubbing in this thread.
If you have never had that many people in the car, so you don't know if it will rub or not, then please indicate this.
If you had to roll fenders to stop the rubbing ..DO NOT LIST IT

Ok .. lets get it going

(Perhaps a moderator can make this a sticky if we get enough quality info in this thread)

Here is my experience so far;

205/40R17 With 17x7" Wheels +42 Offset = Light Rubs in Rear
205/40R17 With 17x7" Wheels +45 Offset + Tanabe GF210's = Moderate Rubs in Front.

195/40R17 With 17x7" Wheels +45 Offset + Tanabe GF210's = No Rubs
205/40R17 With 17x7" Wheels +45 Offset = No Rubs

196/50R15 With 16x6.5" Wheels +38 Offset + Skunk2 Lowering Springs = Very Minor Rubbing up front on a thick plastic clip that resides on the outer lip of the front fender right at the top of the tire rotation. Removal of these clips = No Rubbing and no issues with the fender lining hanging out or any other such ill effects.

Tein Basic coil overs, 16X7 45mm offset 205/40/16's 1.5" Drop all around. Front tires slightly rub the plastic fender liner when turning hard and hitting bumps in turns. For day to day and normal "spirited" driving there's no rubs

Not really. Anyone with any drop that isn't rubbing the inner fender liner isn't driving their car enough. The inner fender liner design doesn't give much leeway at all. I only get slight rubs if I hit a bump when taking a corner hard. Otherwise 0 rubs.

Want a setup that gets no rubs. Stay stock or find some 50mm offset wheels and put some 175 width tires .

Here let me help you...
Re-read the mans post and see what part applies to YOUR last post.
It should not be too difficult.
The idea, in case you did not get it, was to find out what combo WILL work. Not your opinion of what little rub becomes no rub!?
We already see yours does not apply to NO RUBBING.

Mine for instance with 195-50-16's 45 offset 16x6.5 rim on stock suspension does not rub! Even when I had it loaded to the max during a recent move (suspension was compressed about 3" in the rear and over 2" in the front) I went over speed dip (oops) and bottomed the suspension with no rubbing AT ALL.

So, now do you get it!?

None,

You gotta list your setup formally Since it doesn't rub.

What tires were you running? I'm probably going to run the same setup, but I'm having a hard time finding tires in that size.

im sorta interested in knowing if you ran this set up
Bolt Pattern:4x100,4x114.3
Wheel Size:17x7.5
Offset:40
205/40R 17 tires
similar to suparphreaks expierience setups with a diff offset....

(camber kit as well)
and wanted to get springs to make it lower with few rubbing issues how much of a drop would be safe for front and rear? 1.6 1.8?? just asking

also is the offset too low with 40 ?

skunk2 - hfp's - no rubbing at all i think hfp's where running 205-45-r16
skunk2 - 15 + 205-50-r15 rubs when turning and bumping on plastic unders.
---above plus front strut bar would rub on normal turns
stock - 15 + 205-45-15r no rubbing and smooth ride
