Base vs Sport suspension
Base vs Sport suspension
Hi folks,
I apologize if I have done insufficient searching, but I have yet to find the following:
Is there a difference in the suspension between a base and a Sport '08 Fit? I know that there is a tire / wheel upgrade with the Sport, but are the springs / struts / swaybars the same?
Thanks,
Bryan

Thanks!
From the literature I have seen I suspected that this was the case. Thank you for confirming my suspicion.
While the body kit looks nice, I'm thinking I might save the difference in MSRP to buy my own wheels / tires and Progress springs and rear sway bar. That way I could use the stock base wheels for dedicated snow tires. I just wanted to be sure that I would not be getting lower rated struts / shocks and / or a smaller front sway bar.
Thanks again!

I went w/ the stock Fit for that very reason.
But, I wish I'd gotten the Sport.
For that extra money, I'd have gotten cruise control, steering wheel volume control and an aux jack for my mp3 player. When I swapped out my wheels I went with some old 14" OZ racing wheels so I wouldn't add a ton of weight w/ the factory 15" alloys.
I got to keep the steelies for snow tires but now I'm unable to add factory cruise control and I kinda like the look of the spoiler on the Fit. The aux input can be added but that is a bit of a hack job too.

Like Dave said, if you don't want the other perks of the Sport model, go with the base. For one thing, it's about 100 pounds lighter than the Sport model, and that counts for something. For me, the cruise control and steering wheel upgrade alone made the Sport model worth it, even though I could have done without the bodywork.
Many thanks for the additional comments, folks. My purchase is still a bit farther down the road than I would like, but I will make sure to drive both base and Sport models before I jump in. I am persuaded by Spoon Sports' choice of the base model for their project car....
