warped rotors or new pads??
my fit has 19000 miles on it and my brakes are squeaking bad. its the kind of sound when someone is resurfacing a rotor on a brake lathe. thats the best way i can describe it. my friends say my rotors are warped. im gonna take a look at it today to see what i can find.
so my question is... is it my warped rotors or do i just need new pads?
thaanks!

Im at 12k miles and will probably get aftermarket pads as well pretty soon.
edit: are you guys resurfacing them or just getting new rotors?

Quite a few things can cause the brake rotor to warp, excessive heat, or driving then running through a puddle (causing the metal to cool rapidly). Going on a long drive then washing the car and spraying the rotors.

I'm super paranoid of my rotors warping since I owned an early 90's Toyota Corolla which was very prone to them warping. In the Fit I feel quite a bit of road detail coming up through the brake pedal at slow speeds right before stopping completely. It feels like it brakes a little unevenly when coming to a stop over a bumpy section of asphalt.

I say the pads are worn. Get a tech to inspect for u, replace the pads, clean & lube the sliding pins & caliper bracket & machine the rotors if the pads are worn.
I would service & re-adjust the rear brakes too if u have around 19,000miles already.

For Those with Pulsating Brakes...
For my first ~40,000 miles of ownership, I lived with pulsating brakes. It was especially noticeable when slowly rolling to a stop. I guess I just got used to it. It wasn't until I let mrFroge drive my car, that I discovered that I could easily fix this problem. He told me that the rotors on my car were most likely "glazed." He recommended that I either scuff the rotors with fine emery cloth to remove the glaze, or just install his old set of race worn Hawk HP+ brake pads. He felt that the Hawks were abrasive enough that they would scrub the rotors for me. Since he had just replaced a new set of HP+ pads on his H-Stock Fit, he gave me his used set (they still had an 1/8th of an inch of material left on them).
Sure enough, the pulsation immediately went away, and as a bonus, I inherited some awesome brake pads. BTW, these pads have tremendous initial bite! Once you've used them, you will prolly get addicted to them.
One thing that I wasn't aware of was that there was a break in procedure that needed to be performed to correctly "bed in" the pads. Check out this link (be sure to refer to Q & A's 4-7):

With any luck, this idea might help your symptoms as well.

Do the HP+ squeal like mofos? I used to have HPS pads on the 626 and on the Neon and the Squealing would drive me nutz in no time...
I know base model RSX have the same pads then ours so maybe i could find something...
Anyway, let me know what you guys think about yours..!
Marko!!
