Running Goodridge SSBB lines

Upgrading to them are well worth it.

still on stock pad/rotor.

braking has vastly improved.

next step is to flush dot three to dot four.

Upgrading brake fluid isn't worth it unless you track the car, or do very aggressive canyon carving. Plain old DOT 3 stops much heavier vehicles than the Fit every day just fine. Even then, the only fluid really worth upgrading to is DOT 5.1 (NOT 5, as the 5 will destroy your brake lines!).

How about the install? don't you have to flush and bleed to change lines? I was thinking on doing that next summer...

I do not feel dot 3 is good enough.

i baked my dot 3 fluid (stock) after 1 canyon run on my old car. brake fade blows.

SSBBL is 1 step above (difficulty level) changing rotors, not pads.

i didnt have a power bleeder, so i did old school and had a friend use foot power to bleed, no flush needed.

the only special tool needed is a flared wrench, all other normal tools. standard screwdriver and sockets.

hmmm...maybe you had brake fade because it was on an old car and the brake fluid needed to be replaced. I agree with what was previously posted. There really isn't a valid reason to go to dot 4....but hey it's your time and money do what you want!

Why not DOT4? It's just fluid; it's not as if it's going to cost you an arm and a leg over DOT3. Better braking (in this case, higher fluid boiling point) is always a good investment.

mole177,
How much did the Goodridge lines cost you?
