I'm installing my S-Techs tomorrow afternoon, and I have an idea of where each spring goes, but I just want to make sure and check in with someone who has more knowledge than me. The wider more open springs, go in the front or the back? and the skinnier springs go in the back or front? And does anyone know what way they go in? Letter right side up or upside down? Or do I just try them on and see how they go in? From what I understand they only go in one way, correct? Thanks in advance! And they're going on a gd3!

 

Have you even bothered to search the forums? Based on how your post was composed I would wager this is not a job you should be doing yourself, in spite of how relatively simple it is. The consequences for failure for the occupants of the car, and those around you can be grave.

Yeah I've been studying that thread for weeks now and I know how to do it, after helping my friend out with his civic, he as well as one of my instructors at school explained it well and let me get hands on. All I want to know is the position of the springs. I mean I can figure it all out tomorrow, but I'd rather have it all sorted out by then just to make things quicker. I thought I could come on here and have someone help me out with my questions. Sorry, didn't know a simple post gave you an entire background check on my knowledge, there's just things I wanna make sure of. Just because I don't have many posts doesn't mean I haven't searched through the forums.

Like I said, I can do it, there's just things I wanna get clear before I do it. My questions were clearly stated above, and it's just for revision purposes.

 

Skinny go in the front, Wider go in the back. As for the writing I've never seen tein's springs in person. Are they progressive rate springs? If so the "stack" needs to be at the top. Does this help you?

 

Yes, thanks. And no, they're linear, space in between coils seems to be the same throughout the spring, which is why I was wondering if anyone that has them on their car would be willing to help out.

Nah. Wider springs in the front. Skinnier ones in the rear. But anyway, you won't be able to mix them up, you'll see.

I actually learned after some research that the part numbers on the springs say where they go according to the first letter, for example: F-P1B36.....FRONT; R-451D4.....REAR Thanks for the help anyways!

 

This is correct. Big ones in front, small in rear. Tein word should face up, not upside down.
