DIY: Koni Yellows for GD3 rear
If anyone is not a fan of Koni and would rather use Bilstein.
Bilstein makes a shock from their SPORT line for the 1999-2001 Saab 9-3. The valving is likely different but as far as making it fit, its exactly the same as the 900.
I've heard that the Sport blows the Yellow away in all regards, oh and its about 1/2 the price.

Don't think im on the bump stops as the tire is sitting on the wheel well. Koni shocks on the rear with the airsprings. Pretty much the same as a traditional setup, I can just adjust the height with air pressure.
Looks like this but now has the Konis
Was a solution ever found for the front struts from Koni? From what I have read from the thread, nothing yet.
Thanks for doing the research on the rear Koni shocks, that will definitely help when I replace my 100k mile OEM shocks this summer.

Mitsubishi mirage oem struts are same inner and outer diameter but about 5-6 inches shorter. Need little modification. Best for air suspension as depending on your lift should be about 7 inches. I just used my factory front struts. Cut the lower spring pocket off leaving the weld to support the bottom of the bag from pushing down. Soon I'll be doing the mirage struts to get lower. Right now my rear trailing arms hit the frame and the front is about .5 to .75 higher. i plan to have it laying pan soon. Won't take much. Hope some of this helps.
If you scroll down a few posts to custom Koni coilovers, I managed to use their universal single adjustable 8610 1436 race inserts for the front. I had bunk-over-sprung coilovers with a 50mm OD full-body threaded damper cartridge. Discontinued diameter BTW, with our wee lower brackets and fat americans.
Rather than the ground control sleeve-over style system; I hollowed out the damper and used the housing as my own sleeve-in system. Worked great and is DESIGNED for MacPherson style strut units.
The new dampers in coilover units offered for the FIT appear to be going 53mm OD which gives us the opportunity to mate the larger 45.5mm diameter konis inserts.

If it's not crazy challenging... I might do the same with single adjusts to my Skunk2 Pro C's....
