Just installed S-Techs, looking to bring the back down a little further. Suggestions?

Hey guys,

Just dropped my gd3 on Tein S. Techs and love them so far..however, I would be a little happier if the back was sitting lower to close what is close to a 2 finger gap, where as my front is less than a finger (Perfect, just tucked)

My main question is can I use a different brand of springs in the back to bring it down lower? Would I be doing anything to compromise my front springs by using two different brands? And which one would you suggest to bring my rear down to close the gap?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks

You can mix springs. If your using oem shocks/struts I doubt you'd notice a different brandname. A fixed damper set up id use same brand and suggested rate. As the damper is matched to springs

Eibach sportline would bring the rear down. All the other springs seem to suck and make the rear high and stupid too.

Also please keep a running tab on money spent ie
S.techs -$200
Shorter set of springs -$200
Replacing OEM struts-$400
I'm really curious to see how much it'll cost in the long run. It may help in the ongoing spring vs coil debate.

Below Pic is stolen from this thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...arision-2.html

I agree with mike410b, the Eibach Sportline's will bring the back down by more than 1/2 and inch and when they were on my GD3 they tucked 16's nicely.

If joey_fits is right on around $400 for OEM replacement struts I would consider getting a set of the Tokico HTS adjustable ones while they are still on clearance, something like $540 shipped.

In fact a fellow club member of mine has the Sportlines on his car with the HTS's and continually raves about the setup.

Just my .02

How long have you had them on? If you just put them on let them settle for a few weeks before you go buying anything else.

I have the same springs for GE and the drop was even, I know that means nothing to you

Too bad there's no spring rate information on the Eibachs...

Hey guys thanks for all the input! Hopefully these will just be temporary for the next year until I've got the money for coilovers saved up.

Guess what I need are some eibach sportlines then. Anybody know anyone on here selling some that aren't ridiculously worn, or know where I can get the best deal on them?

If you're waiting to buy coilovers just keep the S-Techs, they aren't THAT bad.

I'll take your word.. Maybe the back won't be so bs after it settles? I've had them on for two days now, probably just now turned 100 miles on them. When should I expectthem to settle all the way?

As for coilovers, anyone know any fits running fortune autos? That's what I've been interested in ever since I saw them making them for us fits

Sorry to burst your bubble on the Fortune Autos but they did not complete development of them:https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...osports-2.html

Bottom of page 2 is where it fell through.

Nothing on the site listing either Fit having an application in the 500 or 510 series: fortune500seriescoilovers - Fortune Auto North America

Here is the thread for the current project in development for GD and GE: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-interest.html

I'd give it a couple weeks, from what it looks like the rear springs are signifigantly stiffer than the front + there's no weight over the back, so it might take a minute to settle.

I've had an experience in the past where the same thing happened, but I had reverse rake and it pissed me off every day to look at the car The front springs were fairly stiff though and it settled even after a little while.

Edit: Oh, that's a bummer they didn't finish production...

Hahah damn that would have pissed me off too! Well, I'm happy overall so I'm just going to let them do their thing, and continue saving for coilovers.

That's depressing they didn't finish production for the fortune autos I've got others in mind though, so I guess I'll have to get over it lol

If you drove 3 miles on the springs, they're settled. You can wait 10 years for them to slowly sag, but the springs are seated in their perches once you get the suspension to travel up/down a few times.
