Exclamation Need INFO on Spring Installation

For those that installed lowering springs in your 07 FIT was it hard? I'm familiar with civic & integra but looking at the FIT its totally different. Anyone written/done a DIY or have any INFO that would be great? Thx!

Reason why is cause I'm going back to stock

My wife sold her car, so we're carpooling in the FIT. She doesnt like how she scrapes the front lip while getting out of steep driveways I told her not to worry about it, its just a lip that can be replace

Ha! I know exactly what you mean - I took off the front lip from the Integra a few years ago - didn't hurt the looks (that I found) and calmed the wife's nerves from the scrapping sounds!

if you have enough knowlege to do civics and integras then you should be able to tacke the fit's suspension no problem, it's mostly common sense. BTW are you going to selling your springs?

True but I dont want too come up on a snag while doing all this work
Yes once I swap out the springs I will be selling the pretty cheap

I know, installing shorter springs was easy. Now, you will need a specialized tool to compress the original springs, especially in front. I just bought a Spring Compressor and paid $180. But you can get them for as cheap as 55$ Mine too (GF210) will be up for sale next week: lowered ride and snowy winters don't go together. And I know for a fact that I can't lower my ride with my all season 225X55R15.

Yeah compressing the springs sux but I dont have to worry about purchasing one, I can always rent one out from Autozone or Pepboys.

Rear lowered only?

I have asked this question on a similar tread, no comments yet. So I am asking you differently... have you considered keeping your lowering springs at the back and going back to originals in front so to avoid scraping bumps?
In my case, I don't want to play ther role of snow plough all winter , but I am worried that it would unsafely affect my ride if I drove with set of springs with different characteristics if I keep my GF210 at the back suspension.

Anyone comments appreciated!

Has anybody heard of problems running GF210s on a +35 15inch wheel?

Just 'how low can u go'??
I am just going to do the EIBACH pro. Did the Sport on my Accord coupe but had to mess with the rear suspension. I think for me,1in +, will work just fine and then next year I'll go to 17's with 225-45 X 17 tyres. Any lower than that and you may just 'scrape' a little esp when parking with those crazy parking stops!

can somebody tell me how to remove the tie rod iam trying to install springs now but i cant get the tie rod off

thread the nut back on a few turns so that when you strike the spindle with a hammer and slip you don't mess up the threads of the tie rod. Then you beat the ever loving Shit out of the spindle until it goes pop! Then remove the nut by hand and pull out tie rod!

You can probably get a cheap ball joint tool at Harbor Freight or something for $20. I bought a nice one at a tool place a long time ago and it was only about $50, and they work on any car you will ever own. I don't want to beat on my car.

THose ball joint tools if it is not the compression type, but the fork type, they will rip the rubber boots of the tie rod causing you to have to replace it! If you are popping the ball joint free to do a spring installation either use the slam method, or a compression type of ball joint popper!

I agree those fork type ones that wedge in between are brutal. I have a compression type one that looks about like this
