Are 16 inch tires ok?
Are 16 inch tires ok?
I love my little red 2016 Fit LX. I'm trying to get tires. Someone suggested the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT's.185/55/16.
Tire rack didn't have the 15-in. Any other good suggestions for a quiet tire that I don't put many miles on? I really don't know where to get tires other than Tire Rack and Discount Tire.
The Vredstein Quatracs I had before were okay, a bit loud.

I guess I could get new wheels. If it's worth the bother. Otherwise, I have the stock 15 inch wheels.
I have a 2010 Fit Sport with 185/55R16 tires on 16-inch wheels, so I have no direct knowledge of good 15-inch tires.
Tirerack.com shows 43 tires in your default size of 185/60R15. Discounttire.com shows 82 tires in this size. There definitely are not that many options for Fit tires on 16-inch wheels, so I would not buy new wheels unless you have other reasons.
I've had Falken Sincera SN250 and more recently Falken Ziex ZE950 tires on my Fit. Both tires are quiet on good roads and loud on bad roads. As best as I can tell, pretty much any tire is loud on bad/rough roads. Unfortunately, most roads where I live are bad. Sometimes when I hit a smooth patch I get concerned that I might have just had a stroke that wiped out my hearing because... silence.
I've done a lot of sound-deadening improvements on my Fit, so it's probably quieter inside that most GE8 Fits. My understanding is that newer Fits like yours have additional factory sound-deadening improvements and should be quieter from the factory than older Fits.
You can spend a bunch of time reading reviews and that should help you pick out generally quiet tires, but in reality most folks are only comparing against the limited number of other tires they've personally used, on whatever roads they drive on, in whatever car they own. If they're not driving a Fit on the same roads you drive on and comparing against whatever tire you consider too loud, their opinions might not be of use.
There are many posts here about different tires that could be worth a read. At least you'll be hearing from people driving Fits. I have also had good luck in the past sending tire questions directly to Tirerack. They have an e-mail contact as well as a phone number on their website. Discount Tire can probably answer questions at well. At the bare minimum you'll be dealing with folks who have experience with many different tires.

I'm going to go in there tomorrow and see if I can get the Yokohama Avid Ascent LX.
It's about $100 cheaper at Tire Rack. I'm sure they'll meet it since they own that company.
