? about 16" HFP wheels

Ok, so this is a pretty basic question. Obviously going with a larger wheel would decrease your MPG, but by how much? I do 90% highway driving and would like to get the HFP wheels (I could get a deal on them) but didn't want to seriously destroy my wonder MPG I'm getting now. Would there be a huge difference?

Cause I really love this look.

I was averaging about 31 mpg before. Now I think I'm around 28 mpg.

I have an Automatic Transmission, so it is probably worse than Manuals.

I am still getting various MPG outta my new MR/MT. Worst was 32.3, best has been 36.7. All have been with the HFP wheels at about 85% freeway @ 80mph, with the rest being hilly mountains. I am trying to keep it at 75mph to see if I can raise it some. But IMHO the loss of mpg is very little, and like you ,,,,me likes the way it looks,,,

If you go with the 16" wheels and the recommended size tire of 205/45 R16, your wheels will have a cross section ~5mm larger. That's not much to affect mileage. While the large diameter means a miniscule bit less torque at the wheels, it also means your engine spins a miniscule amount less to maintain the same speed as the 15" rims and wheels. The wider wheel will mean more wind resistance and maybe more rolling resistance (but that can be offset with a higher tire pressure).

I do run mine at the max air pressure. And just for grins I checked the my speed while driving with my GPS and it was only about .4mph difference between what the gps said I was going and the speedo,,,dead nuts on pretty much IMHO.

I dont think the HFP wheels will affect mpg that much. Honda wouldnt sell you a set of wheels that would diminish the performance of the vehicle.

In the heat of summer using the A/C constantly and driving my AT Sport like I stole it, I was still getting over 30 consistently. After putting the HFP wheels on, I dropped 2 mpg. I'm thinking I may go back to my original plan, which is to find a 16" wheel that weighs less than the stockers. I do love the look of the HFP wheel on my NHBP Sport.

yeah sounds like a plan. My friend tells me I should sell my Volk Te37s and buy Spoon SW338 in 15". 8lbs wheels cant go wrong with that haha.

But Rota slipstreams sort of ruined the Spoon wheel look for me.

One thing I have noticed is that driving at 60mph in my Integra GSR really helps gas mileage. I have noticed many people here say they drive 70. try driving at 60. focus and concentrate on staying slow. screw the other drivers on the road/freeway. jsut bear with it. you really dont gain that much by speeding anyway. only like 10 mins or so. unless you are driving far.

well I ended up going up to the dealer and buying a set. I only plan on running them in the summer. That way I can get some extended life out of my tires. I really like them though, they look really nice. They won't actually make it onto the car until next year, but I think I got a pretty good deal on them at $106 a wheel. Seemed pretty decent.
