Anyone using 215/50R15 tires?
If so, could you please give a brief review.

What wheels, any rubbing, drop, general impressions, why you chose them, etc etc

I am. I like wide aggressive tires. No 195/205's for me.

My rims are 15x6.5in with a 42mm offset. Tires are Kuhmo 711's. Lowered on T1R V1 springs. Cut 2 coils off the rear springs also.

I had to pull the clips off and tuck my front fender lining up and OVER the fender lip on the inside. I them rolled my front fenders a bit.
I let the rears rub. It still rubs a little over big bumps/dips. The fronts use to rub a little around corners.

Ive also ran 225/50/15's. The rims were 15x6 with a 45mm offset, same tires as above. Rubbed the same as my rims above.

 

Is the rubbing due to the width of the tire or the drop of the coils?

 

Its basically the tire size and the drop. Of course offset has some of the roll but normally you dont get rubbing with dropped Fits unless the offset is 40mm and lower.

Then again, it also depends on the tire and tire size. Some rub with 205's some dont. My 215's rubbed more than my 225's did. Thats when offset played a roll. 42mm compared to 45mm.

With my offset being 42mm on those wheels if I had 205/50's I wouldnt have rubbed at all.
Ive also had 205/60/14's on my Fit. The rims had a 35mm offset. It only rubbed over bumps/dips.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but this rubbing is on the outside on the wheel arches correct? My understanding is that the less the offset, the more the tire sticks out.

 

Youre correct. The lower the offset the more the tire (at some point the rim) sticks outs.
Basically all of the rubbing will be on the fender linings. Its an easy fix if you have patients

 

has any one ran 215/50r15 on the stock rim (stock or lowered)???

 

I have to buy tires for next summer will 215/50r15 work with stock rims t1r springs???
