So originally i was going to get 15 inch wheels but after seeing some pics I've decided that 15's look too small on the fit so i'm going with 16's but i'm not sure what would handle better.

195/45R16 tires on 16 x 7 +40 wheels or 205/45R16 on 16x7 +45 wheels.

Obviously the 205's have more rubber on the ground, but the 195's would have a wider stance with the wider offset.

opinions pls.

 

opinion.... 15's look better, #1. (i dont like the fact that you
got a gaping 'LOOK HERE' gap between the brake rotor, rear brake drum,
and the rim).

why not just run 205/45/16 on your +40mm? doubt it will rub unless
you're running bold shouldered tires.

also, keep in mind that tire's stickyness does not mean much if you're
comparing different model tires. it's the compound that matters most,
width comes next.

 

i agree why dont you just go with the 205 series on the 40 offset. it will not rub.

 

I'm not so sure that it won't rub, i have 195/60R14 tires right now on my stock 14 inch steelies with +45 offset and my car is lowered and i can't fit two fingers between my fender and my tire, i can fit one finger but not two.

I haven't actually seen the tires in person so i can't really say which has a better compound, but i was Toyo T1R's for the 195/45R16's and Yokohama AVS ES100 for the 205/45R16's.

And I agree with you that i don't like the big gapping hole around the brake rotor and rear drum, but 15's look tiny on the fit and when the car is lowered there's less light on the rear drum and brake rotor so the hole doesn't seem as big.

Edit: thought about again and i might be able to fit 205's on +40 offset.

 

all i can say is i have ZERO finger gap. im tire tucken all around with 17x7.5 wheels +45 and 205/40/r17 tires.

i do not rubb. i think my front left settled a bit more, but i only rubb during a hard u turn. its only the fender lining clips.


if you have 1- 1 1/2 finger gap all around like you said...then you will be fine

im pretty sure you will not rub.
