Fixed my Rubbing issues! Heres how.
Fixed my Rubbing issues! Heres how.
As some of you know my new Buddy Club wheels have been having some rubbing issues over bumps and hard corners. They are +35offset, 15x6.5 and im running stock Fit Sport Dunlops which are 195's. The rubbing was driving me NUTS! Im going to explain what i did to stop the rubbing for everyone who is/will be running wheels/tires with similar specs.
First/easiest thing i did. Pulled out the fender a bit, just tugged on both sides and they moved about a 18th of a inch and belive it or not did make a diffrence in how much/hard i was rubbing.
Second thing. Took both front rims off and with out getting camber bolts lossened it up and adjusted as much negative camber we could get with out bolts, then tightened it up so it stayed. Made a pretty large diffrence, and is really easy thing to do. Plus its free!
Third and final thing. Ok when you feel in your wheel wells right about the tire you feel these clips that stick out, i was rubbing on those hardcore! While adjusting the camber we noticed my passenger side clip was gone(must have fell off on a hard bump). So we went to a local hardware store and got clips the same size but instead of having a square head that stuck out(what i was rubbing on mostly), it had a very flat round head. It popped right in on the passenger side, so we went to the drivers side, popped that one out and put in the new flat one!
Viola! Rubbing gone with out spending more then 10$! I can take turns as fast as i want no rubbing, and hit HUGE potholes(not that i like to)and not rub a bit!
So for anyone wanting a aggressive offset 15' wheel and is lowered, heres how you can stop the rub!
*I was only rubbing in the front, never once rubbed in the rear(yet). Also note, im lowered on Progress Springs*

A very nice way to get the rims to fit.
On a side note, did you notice more oversteer since you are running more a neg camber at the front. And you try to get the camber number to try and get everything nice and even, and for others to repeat

No understeer probs. We even took it up MT. Diablo(see video that Ciburri posted)and we driving pretty hard both up and down and it felt normal.

Pretty sure that Tylers camber isnt that negative. I bet its still in the green if he got an alignment.
I myself wouldnt have messed with the camber for +35. And OEM tires at that.

But at least you fixed it. You would freak out in my car cause of the rubbing. Hahaha!
My front camber is clear into the negatives. My car handles 100% better than it use to.

Yeah alignment seem great still.

Yupp a 18th of a inch. I would not recommend anymore then that.
Cibburi did more then that and his paint cracked so beware.
It makes a really big diffrence in rubbing.

My buddy Jon's Fit is basically running the same set-up as you wheel wise, but hes on Tein springs and I believe those are lower than yours.

Ive told you this before dude....
Pop all the clips out of the fender lining. Push the fender lining up and over the fender lip. Thats basically it. Leave the clips out as the fender lip holds it in place.
The fender lining is clear out of the way and the clips are no longer there.
Thats how I stopped the rubbing with my 215/50/15's on a +42mm offset.
Camber bolts WILL require and alignment after. Not just because of camber control, the toe gets thrown off horribly. Also why I wouldnt have messed with the strut bolts for a little rubbing.

from fender flex or just being forceful when pulling it out i assume. it might cause issues but i doubt it. i dont think an 18th of an inch is going to make a difference in the way the fender sits and flexes. also, im sure ivan took care in doing it aswell. you can see by how his car is turning out, he is not a fan of doing sloppy work
