aftermarket wheels, Honda warranty

Does anybody know if getting aftermarket (non-Honda) rims installed will void the Honda warranty? I am planning on installing Rota 15X6.5 rims, 40 offset with 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 tires on stock suspension. Thanks all.

Hi-
I believe you are speaking about wheels , not rims....they will not void your warranty.

Rota's are nice BTW

if your wheel bearing fails they will probably say it was the wheels if you keep them on the car when you visit the dealership.

True that! I don't think there has been one case of that happening here though?

Don't think so. You can easily take wheels on and off plus if they do cause you problems just swap back your stocks before you tell them :P

oil changes/maintenance at dealership

Thanks for the responses. I have another question. So, I guess I'm going to have my wheels installed on my '08 Fit without the TMPS sensors on them so the light will be on. If I decide to do my oil changes/maintenance at the dealership, do you think they will make an issue out of having aftermarket wheels and w/o TMPS sensors? Where do you guys get your oil changes/maintenance done (if you don't do it yourself). Thanks all.

I don't really know if they will make a big deal of it. I get my oil changed by a friend that owns a shop. Before I knew him though I used to take my old car just to places around town. I am sure there is a autoshop that offers oil changes somewhere around where you live.

If you get aftermarket wheels are your going to keep your stock wheels?
If you keep them then store them at least 75 feet away from your FIT.

If you are lucky the TPMS light on the dash will not come on and if it does then put a small piece of black tape over it.

If you want to change oil you can have any shop do it but you can supply them with the oil filter and metal ring for the oil drain plug. The metal ring is cheap and you can pick it up from the dealership, it crushes a little when the drain plug nut is tightened for a good fit and is not reused. The Honda oil filter is decent so that you can pick up with the oil drain plug.

Goodyear does oil changes for about $19.95 with coupon in my area. Just keep the receipts for your records. If you do it yourself keep the receipts for the oil and filter you bought and write down when you changed it and your odometer reading.

Some dealerships have specials for buying parts-
Once a month during new owner presentations a 20% discount can be offered.
At lunch time my dealership has a 25% off special for a few hours.
Look for coupons in the newsletter for owners.
