Tires,Tires,Tires????
well i need tires of a fit and just wanting to know what brand tires ppl have been running and what has worked best for you guys...i a kumho guy and wanting to stray away to somethings else and just curious what has worked best on the fit as far as brand and size..the size rim is a 16x7 and the car will be lowered maybe a inch or so.
falken ziex 912.
cheap, quality, handle good for being a sporty all season touring.
stick to this, or be prepared for the floodgate of super expensive sporty tires with 180 treadwear ratings.
unless thats what you want. the falken is a nice middlepoint.

I'm rocking the General Exclaim UHP's
Quiet ride, great treadware, and a kick ass tread pattern
Only down side is they have some soft sidewalls

Choosing tires is always a personal matter. I suggest you use the ratings and reviews inTireRack.com to find the tire you want. Wear, cornering, lap times wet & dry, lite snow, all-out summer, all weather... and price.
Gives you a real perspective on just what you want.

Sounds like youre looking for lower price and good treadwear. There are many out there with 400 treadwear ratings and $60-80 prices. Choose the one with ratings in TireRack that show green in those areas that match low cost and high tread life. And yes, stick with known brands, unfortunately we haven't had great performance out of General Tires. They've been too heavy and not good enough traction. Falkens, Kumho are good choices. CR rated the 512 as best tire for ice traction and they worked well on twoof our other cars in performance and wear. (When I get 25,000 miles out of tires on a civic driven on crooked roads its a good tire.).
I have Falken 912's now. I had 512's prior to these. The 912's are quieter and are wearing better (10k so far), but the definately do not handle as well as the 512's did. The tread pattern doesn't look as good... if you care about that. Overall, the 912's are great if you want something a little grippier than stock, but with low noise, good ride quality and long treadlife. If you want performance at the expense of everything else... look at a different tire.
I <3 Kumho's also. Had Ecsta Supra 712's (discontinued) 205/40/17's on my Civic. Drove like a maniac and got 42,000 miles out of it!
Replaced those tires with BF-Goodrich GeForce Sports in 215/40/17. I preferred the Kumho's, so I'd vote for a set of cheap and sticky Kumho's.
