Polishing Wheels?

I was looking through some threads on HT and saw some Sprint Hart Cp-f's that were polished and they looked soooo sexy. If I bought some rota knockoff's, how hard/time consuming would it be to polish them? Anybody done it yet? Thanks!

Basically what solbrothers said but expect to spend a few HOURS per wheels sanding and getting every imperfection out cause if you don't when you go to polish you'll just high light them.

Personally I would never do it, it's just way to much work.

exactly. way too much work. you "could" pay a shop to do it for you, but still. not worth the time/money

its going to take awhile expecially because of the spokes.

and the wheels you might be looking for are spun rims

http://www.spunwheels.net/spunspkg.html

you would have to strip the wheels with air craft stripper.
then sand down with a high grit and work your way from there

u will need some aircraft stripper... then pressure wash then start sanding ... start at 150 then 220 . 330 440 600 and the dry/wet at 800 to get em really polished wet sand at 8 1000 1500 then get some wheel polish and clear if needed.. i was 2 coats of wet sand away from polishing my gsr blades and then changed my mind last minute... its good to use a mouse.. i went bare for mine.. im still missing fingerprints lol

Man, this does sound like its a lot of work. But god, that would be so og to have fully polished rota track r's or gt3's. Ughh....I might just have to pay someone to do it.

take em to a shop and get them sandblasted ... a shop can polish them for you but it wont be cheap .. cheapest i got quoted from around here was 350 ..vs 20 bucks in sandpaper and spray paint lol
