Caliper Clearance

I tried a search and returned nothing. I don't have time to take the wheels off right now to measure so i was wondering if anyone knew how much space we need to clear the calipers minimum. from the hub. I'm looking at a custom set of aluminum rims but they have 1.5" for caliper clearance. And i don't want to have to run spacers. So if anyone knows offtop what it is that would me amazing thnx.

We use 1/8" (3 mm) for minimum clearance. Otherwise small pebbles can get lodged in the crevice. Pebbles bigger than 1/8"tend to bounce off.

you mean as long as the face is more than 1/8" from the hub. Or 1/8th inch from the caliper. See what i am trying to figure out is that a set of wheels i want has clearance for 1 1/2 inches from the hub face. So as long as the caliper falls in there some where. I'm good. I guess i'm not quite explaining myself appropriately. lol

I would suggest to take measurements. I don't know off the top of my head, and I would hate for you to get wrong information.

I will say though, in terms of JDM custom wheels - You run a standard disk in the front and low in the rear.

The disk type coordinates with the type of brakes you have.

Correct me if I am wrong danielg

No I mean a 1/8" rod will fit between the spokes or any othe part of the wheel or suspension at any point of the wheel travel and all parts of the caliper. The length of the rod is not important, just that it fits anywhere and everywhere. The photo appears to have too little clearance..
I haven't figured out what dimension you are measuring but possibly you mean a cylinder 1.5" thick from the hub face. Don't know if that will clear the caliper; a quick unofficial check says it won't Needs more like 2.5 to 3" near as I can tell, and maybe as much as 4".

disk is the how thick the hub is. Thicker the hub, higher the caliper clearance. for example you need a Race disk for a huge ass 6 pot caliper. I have a 17x9 +11 here that has like a 1 inch lip, due to the thick hub. If you are running drums or what not, you can run a extremely thin hub to maximize lipage.

Hope that makes sense.

I need to make sure that the space of A in the second picture is less than 1.5 inches. I am about to order a set of custom wheels. That once made or mine whether they fit or not. And he said that the wheel will have 1.5" from hub to face where the caliper needs to fit in. If this perhaps makes more sense. I understand what you are saying about the 1/8" clearance needs but that does not answer my question. I guess i'll just measure myself when i get a chance. so we can be sure. But thanks for checking.
