HELP HELP! Clanking Noise from suspension/wheels maybe?

Hello all fit owners.

I've been running 17x7 +43 offset rims w/ 205/45/17 on my fit almost the day I bought the car. Now that I sold this set of wheels, I am currently running on my friends stock steelies, in 16x5 from a 04 Scion Xb.

Ive asked some of my friends who ran steelies before and they said that steelies just make these noises when theyre not made for your car? Is that true?

Its pretty loud, like a crowbar dropped in the garage floor, or dishes rattling around in a restaraunt sink.

I checked around to see if things are loose like the rear jackpoint, kicked the rear wheels to check bearings, shook the exhaust, but couldnt find the source.

I own a 07 Honda Fit, only around 27k miles. Happens only when I go over certain bumps. I live in the SGV.

My mods related in the rear end just in case?:
Progress Rear Swaybar
Tanabe DF210 Lowering Springs
HKS Hi-Power Axleback
Infinity Basslink in the trunk.

ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

Have you check the rear sway bar? Lots of people who are lowered with the progress rear sways have reported chatter when they are installed with certain springs it.

Did u by any chance cut ur rear springs?? I believe the center bore in a Honda is bigger than a Toyota. Make sure the wheels are flush with the hub. No wheels are supposed to make those loud noises.

Nope no cut springs or anything. I have tanabe DF210's.
Yeah my old set of wheels had hubcentrics and before I sold them to my friend, I got the hubcentrics to fit his.

My swaybar has the round/flat head (like panducky hardware) bolts so it didnt chatter, or at least hasnt chattered the year prior to this wheel extravaganza.

Im using my friends 04 xb steel wheels, with his lugs n such. No hubcentric or anything right now.

Hopefully its only from the wheels, so then I know the cars fine, and I wont drive until the new stuff comes in.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING fitfreakers!

I have a clanking noise too. I put in new springs and the axle popped out on the front passenger side. Got it back in, but when I go over bumps or turn the car right, I get a clanking noise. Not sure if it's the suspension or the axle itself. Haven't been able to isolate the problem so I'm probably taking it to a shop soon.

Probably soon?? Why not just wait til something breaks?

The joys of lowering.

Check to make sure all the nuts on the suspension is tight.

Sounds good but might be dumb and worst of all unsafe. I would hate to see some suspension part let go at speed. Not something to ignore.

^^ hes right, the bore is smaller so the wheel doesnt sit on the hub right and makes those noises, sounds exactly like a car with loose lugnuts.. and dont try to tighten the wheels down to bend the rim to fit either, youll just mess up more stuff..

ok that solves my concerns. im just worried about the studs as theyre so weak. wish they were the black metal instead.. rant.

yeah my car has been fine for the entire time before i changed to wheels. didnt expect that sound to happen, especially since in my lifetime in the 90's theres no hubcentrics n such.

just gotta be frustrated and patiently wait for my new wheels. sigh
