Tpms questions

Thinking about getting new shoes in 16x7 with 205/45. I'm ordering them from an online source, balanced/mounted(tire&wheel) and it includes the tpms sensor. Will I get that annoying deflated tire for Any reason whatsoever? Maybe due to different wheel/tire size variation in tire pressure

Well if it has a tpms sensor then all you would have to do is go to a Honda dealer and have the new sensor calibrated to the car.

I'm assuming they will charge for that? Or is that something you could tip for? Or will they do it free of charge

From Honda:
All four tire pressure sensor IDs must be memorized to
the TPMS control unit whenever you do any of these
actions:
● Replace the TPMS control unit.
● Replace the tire pressure sensor.
● Substitute a known-good wheel with tire pressure
sensor.
Honda will charge you for this, I'm not aware of an alternative way to calibrate the TPS.

Take a look at Tirerack etc, they sell a ATEQ TPM QUICKSET RESET TOOL, $125.00. Dealer will charge for resetting TPMS. I've seen $45 US just for the TPMS reset. Good luck...

For those U.S. people that just simply ignore the TPMS light, does the light being on affect the on-board computer? ABS? Anything?

I plan to change tires/wheels twice a year (summer/winter) and don't want to have to reset it by the dealer every time!

I've seen no evidence that the TPMS is connected in with any other systems. Simply indicates a tire is under-pressure.

The light is simply that, a light. Just a warning if they were in fact working showing you have lo pressure or somethings wrong so that you don't have a blowout at 60mph. i recommended leaving them in the wheels you use for spring/fall/summer and just ignore it if you put on a second set for winter.

Today, I asked Paramus Honda how much to program the snow tires I recently put on and they said $105. When I take them off I would have to program again for the stock wheels/tires. And so on...

do you have 2 sets of sensors? 1 set for each tire/rim combo? or are you taking the stock ones and putting them from set to set each season? if its the second, then u dont need to program anything, if its the first, is it really necessary for 3 months to spend 210 each season for programming the dumb system for each set of sensors??

personally itd be cheaper to get all seasons and let the magnificence of Honda guide you. or get chains lol

I just bought some Rota Slips on sunday that apparently came with TPMS sensors out of a 2009 GE and all I did was take of the stockers, slap the Rotas on my GD and now 5 days later still no TPMS idiot light.

GD's dont use the sensors that's why. only cars newer than 2008 were required to use this system by law in the US . you might as well sell the sensors for some extra dough if u ever replace the tires on those rota's and take them out then.

My 2008 USDM GD has TPMS sensors. Its only the 2007 USDM GD that doesn't.

That is not true actually.. The law might be, I haven't looked into that, but I do in fact have a TPMS system in my 2008 Sport.

I confirmed this when I found a very very large pot hole on an otherwise seamless road at >50mph and shattered the one in my DF tire.

It is fuse #18, 7.5A for those who want to disable the light because you don't want to buy a set for your winter wheels, don't know which one it is in the GEs or what other systems it may be tied to..
