1 More TPMS Question

Hey FitFreak, sorry for yet another TPMS question, but i just changed rims recently, and as you know the TPMS light came on. I was wondering if it was possible to get the old TMPS in my stock rims and put them into my new rims. When i was changing the tires yesterday, i didnt see any TPMS or anything so im assuming the TPMS is inside the tire? is that correct? thanks for all your help

Yup, the TPMS is inside the tire.

It should look something like this:

^^ The pic Unforgiven was trying to post.

The TPMS sensor is mounted on the wheel not the tire. Its easy to see if the sensor is installed because you'll see the sensor's cap surrounding the valve steam.

i see thanks for helping me confirm my question. Does anyone know how the sensor tells the car there is low pressure though?

If I recall correctly it takes note of the wheel's rotating speeds. The less pressure a tire has, the smaller its outer diameter will be and vice versa.

Generally speaking, the Fit's TPMS will indicate that there is a low tire once a tire's pressure goes below 28 PSI.

Unmount tires on both rims and switch them over. Or eliminate light by following my signature link.
