DIY - 06+ Civic Si/Type R Shift boot into Fit

Parts needed:
Phillips screw Driver
Drill
4 screws
Si or Type R Shift boot

Step 1.
Remove Console

Step 2.
Flip console over and remove the 3 screws to free the center ring.

Step 3.
Dremel out the inner ring

Step 4.
Mock up the Shift boot and drill your new holes to screw it on.

Screw it in.

whats the reason for drilling out the inner ring?

Looks like the boot won't sit flush with the outer ring if you don't dremel the inner ring.

Nice writeup. Does the rubber grommit that is right below the shift know come with the Si boot? Also do the screws come with it, or did you just use off the shelf screws? And how big were they so it did not drill the screws out the top of the silver ring.

yes, the inner ring comes out or you will have a gap.

are you talking about the thing that doesnt allow the shift boot go down too low? Yea it comes with it. I just used screws that I had laying around... They can go through the ring a little because you still dont seem them when installed.

i like the all black intstead of the red stitch. it would go better with my 99-00 SI shift knob

what year is that boot from?

Got my boot yesterday (went with the red stitching) and will be installing this weekend. Stupid me, I busted the 2 clips on the front of the console, and the damm piece under the e-brake broke as well. I'm doing a h-fit short throw shifter, skunk2 knob and xm tuner at the same time, so hopefully everything else goes well. Will post pics once completed

nice WRITE-UP but....next time u take any photos plz plz plz have the light source i.e. the place with the brighter light BEHIND (should face indoors with outside behind u) thx
