Petition to Koni...

There are some single-adjustables (rebound only, I think) that are roughly $100 less each that might be an OK option for folks wanting an upgrade but not the most bLiNg shock out there. I wonder if Koni has any instructions for welding on brackets as needed, or do they want us to all go to an "authorized" shop? Guess I need to give them a call.

Koni contact info
Guys,
just keep e-mailing to Koni. With enough e-mails in their in-box we will start raising eyebrows.
Koni Racing Threaded Sleeves
Just pick "street application" from the drop down selection.
Make sure you request externally adjustable sport struts/shocks!
There are yellow sports made for some cars that are not externally adjustable. Some require you to remove them out of the car, remove springs and compress them fully and then twist the rod for adjustment. Pain in the ass!

IMO, this is bs. You shouldn't have to BEG a company to produce a product that has an obvious demand. Did they miss the insane demand for the Fit when Honda introduced it? I waited 2 months for mine and that was on the short end of the spectrum compared to some. Now that Honda has flooded the market with them, you telling me they can't sell enough to justify the R&D to put something together?? It's like anything else, all your costs are wrapped up in that first R&D set...after that, you'll always have the specs to put more in production. With so many Fits on the road, surely they can manage to sell at least 100 of these sets in the first production year.
It pisses me off that we're getting virtually nothing but OEM support on something as simple as even a ****ing replacement shock. Someone needs to pull their head out of their ass and capitalize on this opportunity for those who DON'T want coilovers!
I never cease to be amazed at the lack of business foresight by some companies...

Them and about 100 other companies! It's gonna be a shame if I have to put 5 years worth of miles on my car before I can finally find products that should have been available within the first 2 years.
You'd think these guys would wanna make some MONEY!!
I know manxman will back me up on this.

I wonder, what are the odds of the 09 Fit having the same struts as the 08-down? I'm not sure how thorough the redesign is, but it's not like they've totally changed the layout. If they turn out to be the same, then that will be a big incentive for Koni and others to pony up.

BigBadMadMan, you are correct and I fully agree with you.
Unfortunately somebody in power in Koni decided not to bother with a vehicle that will be on sale in it's current format for only 2 years in US, totally ignoring the fact that car has been sold for half a dozen years world wide! He/she ignored the fact that many with aftermarket dampers would even replace what they already purchased with Koni yellows!
Not to mention that it would give them an insight and advantage for '09 model. Well, they are experienced enough for that not to mater much.
No doubt new '09 is different car with different specs, but considering Honda's in US come with softer suspension than same cars elsewhere in the world, if we can "adapt" '09 dampers that Koni will eventually build. they would be insane not to! After all, they will run out of the current excuse!
