Toad alarms - are they any good?

Hi everyone. i couldnt find a subforum to put this in so i thought about making a discussion on it.

Im getting an alarm fitted for my Jazz / Fit sometime next week and was quoted £245 (approx $500) for a Toad ai606 to be fitted.

my question is, are toad alarms any good (in particular this one). do you currently have an alarm in your Jazz/Fit? if so which one?

also would you recommend one and why?

No clue about Toad alarms. I got the factory one installed for $499 CDN, seems fine. I have yet to test it out in terms of hitting the car and bumping it around and stuff to see how sensitive it is. I think you can customize the settings (like whether the horn toots when you lock/unlock or that sort of thing), but I'm not 100% sure becaues I don't know if there is the "Valet Swich" installed like the manual keeps referring to, so I'm a little worried about whether that'll be there or not.....

well in the end i went and got a clifford 650 mk2 alarm fitted. it cost £300 to get it installed and i guess im kinda happy with it.

when i asked the engineer about other alarms like the toad ai606, he seemed to shudder and said that they are pretty decent alarms but they are a hassle when it comes down to warrenty.

other than thaty i can really see the difference between the majority of alarms out there.
