this car is a sh!t box

and to all the nut huggers who tell the OP its his fault for buying an auto and to check your tires and this and that F off Honda marketed this car as a great MPG car and thats not what was delivered, so your left with a $15,000 subcompact that performs like a 8,000 hundi and gets the MPG of a domestic

epic fail on hondas part
I'm actually quite frightened now that my children are enrolled in the educational system in this dystopic state.

Check your fan settings.....if the defroster is on the ac is on (this was mentioned in the owners manual)

def check the air pressure and such, dont warm up more than 2 minutes, avoid aggressive stop and go

and lighten the truck and perhaps yourself (I'm a heavy dude myself and know it has affected my mileage!)

The fit is a great car on the way to ... better great cars.
My wife gets about 40 mpg in her fit. I get in the mid 30's.
You need to record EVERY drop of fuel that goes into your car... we've been doing this since the Carter administration. The fit does as well as any gas powered car we'
ve ever had.

Don't trust the thing on the display. Record fuel, do the arithjmetic yourself

It's a small, noisy, brilliantly engineered, minimalist car. There are only two main things wrong
1. no rear vent windows, the thing fogs up. Bad ventilation design, no worse than average of course...
2. Needs a six speed manual transmission. I could get another x percent with that.

I'm having a problem with a starting problem.... it's a minimalist car, maybe the starter is not beefy enough.

Don't expect luxury. Expect good fuel economy, more interior room than anything else for the size and wheelbase, noise, a bumpy ride, and practicality.

My mileage gets worst day by day.

I have a 2009 Honda fit which use to give me 675km on a tank of gas in the city ,the salesman told me my mileage would improve as the engine got broken in , two years later at 26000km on the engine it gets 450km on a tank of gas is that normal? What happens in four years ? 225km to a tank of gas? My 13 year old 1994 Toyota Tercel gave me 600km to a tank of gas , same size engine 1.5 litter and both automatic trans. Has anyone had this problem and or know what mite be causing it ?

I must be doing something wrong. I have a 2010 Fit with a 5 speed, and get 33-34 MPG in town (driving what I think is rather aggressively), and just finished a trip to Phoenix where I drove 75 MPH and averaged 37 MPG.

Anything over 55mph will give you poor mileage.

Anything over 55mph will give you poor mileage. Small engines were designed for city driving, when pushed to the near limits the MAP sencer (air flow sencer) will tell the computer to increase gas flow, if you use an K&N air filter you`ll get more power because of the increase in air flow but the computer matches that with an increase in gas flow. Hope this helps you get a better understanding of whats going on.
