Question Anybody know if you can use a resister to reduce opening temp of the Thermoswitch?

To clarify; use a resister inline with the Thermoswitch to cause the Thermoswitch to open at the lower temperature of, say, 180F? Or perhaps a small circuit that would do the trick.
Since aftermarket ones are running about $40, it seems like this might be an economical solution, if it is workable.
