k swap honda fit = the perfect car
u c an pull it off by using a cheaper K20 ... NOT THE TYPE R

the end result will be a fast car, with lots of room for carrying stuff and fun to drive.

L15 is total shit...i have one boosted now....still feels slow...

with the 170hp engine are you still around 27-30 mpg on premium?

its actually 155 and it drinks regular. in the rsx and ep3 its rated at 22/29. it should do better in a fit.

maybe your car would be faster if you werent carrying around extra noblesse weight and had proper offsets on your wheels.

the l15 isn't shit.

and its already been proven that swapped k20 fits are not as fast as people make them out to be.

if you truly want a fast car, you would be modding something else.

aye. there's the rub. the ep3 is nearly the same weight as the fit.

22/29 compared to my 36/40 would make me cry.

I'm back and forth with this FI/swap thing all the time.

wasnt AJ's boosted l15 whoopin up on k20 fits? well i guess it would have alot to do with the driver and suspension.

that's driver/suspension tune. and a little better balance with the L15 as opposed to a K20/24

And as for total cost of K24 swap.

K24A1 with 5spd tranny . $1500 maximum with ECU and engine harness.

HASPORT mounts $299
HASPORT conversion harness. $1444 (includes K-pro)
Swap header $350

Labour around 7-10 hours.

around $4500 with custom exhaust and whatnots.

L15 boosted around $4200 with custom exhaust and at 10PSI boost your about the exact same as a stock K24.. the K24 with K-pro I/H/E is around 170Whp. $300 for 30 more WHP and you are nowhere near the potential of the stock block.

the cons are the front will be heavier, So you pretty much need coil-over suspension. if you auto-X don't swap!!. If your just etar up the streets do the swap and add a rear sway-bar to bring back the cars balance a bit.

Makes me wonder what internal mods can could we do to the
engine to bring it up to speed with other higher compression engines?

For $ 1,299.00 I can get a King Motorsports (Mugen) Stage 3 Cylinder Head Preparation. I have to admit, I really don't know what that gets me
exactly, but is sounds like I get a faster revving, stronger top end. A little work to the transmission (LSD), clutch ,flywheel, and thicker axles might be able to get me that balance I'm looking for. Plus I don't have to do it all at once I can budget my self and tackle one at a time.

Also has Hondata cracked the ECU yet?

Going the K-swap route sounds like a great deal and I seriously appreciate
everyones feed back on this. Having owned a corolla GT-S with a full race
suspension, I can really understand how important weight distribution is in a car.

Lighter and quicker or Heavier and faster? I guess thats what it boils down to huh?

Still need both ECU's to run the car, the FIT ECU to run the cluster and such, and the RSX/Accord?cr-v/element ECU for the engine.

the $1444 gives you the harness, K-Pro software, and makes it all plug-in.

Do whatever you want man. I wouldn't swap a motor on a less than 2 year old car but that is just me. I like the idea of having ac because in so cal the ladies like the ac. I like the idea of still getting great fuel mileage and having boost, kind of a performance economy motor. The k20 will rock most socks off anywhere. Other than the fact that the fit chassis is better, why not just drop it into an eg or an ek as these are even lighter and also have great chassis. Like I said before do whatever you want, but these guys who suggest the k24 are indeed educated, as a k24 with an ep3 tranny or base rsx would rip. You could always swap the k20a2 head on later down the road that way to make it more affordable.

you can get k20s for $3500 around OC. just gotta find the right deal, and swap is simple, its all plug and play

K24a2 w/Type-S tranny is beastly or K20/K24 setup.

i think its an amazing idea

i saw a video on youtube and it looked like the speedomoter was skipping! it was AWSOME!!!! i saw 2 used k20s on ebay for around 2g with somewhat low miles. i am seriously considering doing it. its just a matter of money l0l.

If $ is not an issue for you why not doing K20A conversion?

my friend's k20a Fit got 147kw at wheel thats about 200hp (not from flywheel it is at wheel)

My question:

Why not just buy an Si for the same price as a K20 Fit? Or just do a K20 eg and keep the Fit as a DD. I suppose if this was going to be a show car, and you could recupe your money invested, but it just doesn't seem worth it.

people are getting 220 hp easy. no F.I. And still 35+ miles to the gallon. Its all in how u drive. Not neccesarily the engine. AND. With a supercharger on the k20 you are in the same power to weight ratio are of a evolution. hehe

I know what u mean. But the poor fit needs it. MORE POWA. I was considering having the guys here at hybrid-racing do it. But they were saying somewhere between 12-16k for the whole thing. They were talking 8k for labor. poo yai. I've always wanted an EG and the k20 sounds nice there. But honestly i want another bagged truck before i buy another import. I'd bag the fit. But honestly if its not gonna lay frame all the way around I just don't know if i want to do it. When i bag something i want it to lay out.

I would do bags before I did a K20, but then again, I'm more of a hard parker...I'll pick up something fast next go around.

I had an eg with an h22 hence previc. still have the body but the h22 spit a rod through the block. h22 must not like 9500. but any ways i got a fit and i would put a k20 in it just to say i can. its no fun having a car like everyone else. people under estimate the fit and everyone knows its slow. but it feels good when you fly by someone that does expect it. if you have an evo or an s2k. people know its faster than a normal vehicle. when my previc was running i flew by s2ks and evos but they thought they were racing a normal civic. thats just my take.
