In Maine, any color that could be confused for an emergency or law enforcement vehicle was illegal.
In florida, from what I've seen and heard, there's little in the way of laws or restrictions, especially with no emissions or inspections here.
Most states will be something along the lines of what Maine was like. So, blue or red is definitely out - I'd think anyway, since Cali tends to be one of the most strict states with motor vehicle codes, at least that's the feeling I get from what I've seen/read.
Anyway, I'm sure plenty of Cali folks will post more info soon.

I changed mine to clear LEDs that light up orange. Looks clean. I'm going to eventually do the same with the turn signals that way too.

well living in california forever lol, iknow for a FACT that the only colors you can have as running lights LEGALLY is amber and white (not HYPER white that bluish tint color). I have been running hyperwhites as running lights for years and never really had a problem because it's such a small light source. On my EG, i got pulled over many times since the bulb was much bigger. But you can run hyperwhites as the running lights, cops really don't care about em, especially on the fit.

illegal: red, blue (both for emergency vehicles), purple, pink, green, brown, black, striped, polkadotted, rainbow, martha stewart green, highlighter red, etc...

I think anything 6000K or less (except red) on the front and you should be fine. Anything more than that will start looking too blue. In the back I think only red and amber are the only legal colors.

Like koolkevin already said, cops here don't really seem to care to pull over Fits (unless you're drawing a lot of attention to yourself/car).
