CVT cannot shift down to Drive

my friend got 1 problem.
He cannot shift his CVT from P to D mode.

He said he can only shift down to D mode when he used his
car's key and insert into reset button.

But he have to do this everytime he park in P mode.
Anyone advise?

My girlfriend had this problem and took it into the dealership. Apparently its a safety feature. They said her brake lights were out due to an eletrical problem and the tranny locked up to keep her from driving without knowing. Seems like a stupid safety feature to me. I thought it would've been to protect the transmission somehow, but apparently not.

The owner's manual will tell you to bring the car to the dealership ASAP at any time you have to use the Shift Lock feature.
