Buddy Club "Racing Spec Shifter"

Just installed and took a short drive. The throw reduction is RIDICULOUS! It's pretty much the shortest throw i've ever driven. It appears even shorter than a GE (Ahem Note aka Ghettoboy247) With a Mugen SS coupled with a Skunk2 SS! Installation was similar to Mugen, i used this DIY for my install
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...t-install.html

this kit is not an add-on adapter similar to T1R, Skunk2, or H-Fit. It comes with the whole housing like the MUGEN kit. Instead of white plastic, the entire thing is black with a black shift rod! It looks awesome. Also, there are "Hard Mounts" Built into the kit itself, you will not have to use your old rubber mounts that flex. Instead, there are mounts molded right into the housing making it all one solid piece. This means less parts, less movement, crisper shifts!

Before having the Short Shifter i ran stock with H-Fit Hard Mount bushings. For crispness I'd say they are really close to the hard mount feel but a little better, but distance-wise it is MUCH shorter. Honestly for my preference it's a little too short but I'm sure after a while i'll get used to it. Quality appears to be top-notch and everything was greased and ready to go. I think the height of the shift knob dropped just a bit but I also got a Buddy Club Shift Knob so it brought it back up. I really never know the buddy club was so affordable! There is such thing as inexpensive JDM!
yea.. so i think im officially a buddy club fanboy now.

Is $120 about right on the cost? That's what it's listed as on JHPUSA.com? I'm assuming since the other shifter I've seen aside from Mugen (Revo) is for GD and GE, this piece is as well? The Revo piece is $99...wonder if there's any difference?

so exactly how did i drive WITHOUT a short shifter all these years? I was always so against it, what a shame. It's like driving a new car much "sportier" feeling and shifting is much less of a hassle like before... AWESOME!

i had 2 friends who are s2k owners check it out today, one said they felt very similar in throw length and the other said it was similar if not shorter than an S2K! When i tried out the S2K i think it just feels different. The S2K feels like the tranny is underneath the center console. The shifting motion stays very flat, the feel of the fit is more "curved" if you understand what im getting at. This short shifter doesnt change or emphasize that characteristic but im just putting it out there. even though the two have similar throw lengths, the feeling is completely different. both are awesome though!

I still hit person's legs when I'm driving with the Skunk2 short throw. But when tards (especially dudes) ride with me, I usually make it a point to see if I can get the end of the knee cap going into 4th. I'm so bad, I will even roll my knuckles back so my weighted knob will make them jump, or I'll move to where my middle knuckle is curled out from the rest and NAIL them! I'm so spiteful...

Where did you pick that buddy club kit up at??? I've been looking to get a short shifter setup in the near future, and it sounds like this one is super solid, especially for the price.

Simple and clean look. Maybe with the white it will not melt your hand in the sun

does just lower the shifter, or does it actually increase the distance from the fulcrum to the other thing? do you have any pix of the actual mechanism?

Buddy Club is CDM, its no longer Japanese, hence the lower price. A Chinese co. bought out the entire brand.

Since the Mugen shifter is currently on sale ($182)... which one is better?

I noticed from the Mugen DIY link that there are bushings in it. Does the Buddy Club shifter feel better b/c of the removal of those 4 bushings?

$120 = nice price IMO. Save $82 and have a better shifter = o_0?

Thanks for the DIY.
