Measure your Fit...

Please help. I would like for someone to take these measurements of their Honda Fit M/T for me.

Engine Width (Pulleys to end of transmission)
Diameter of the manual transmission where it bolts to the engine
Passenger Side Half Shaft from rubber boot near transmission to rubber boot near wheel
Drivers Side Half Shaft from rubber boot near transmission to rubber boot near wheel
Half Shaft diameter
Strut tower to strut tower

And also take pictures of:

Engine mounts - especially the rear engine mount under the car
Accelerator pedal and it's workings

So, what's it worth to you? ^_^ Lemmie know. I tried to get my local dealer to let me measure up things for myself, but they weren't keen on that idea. Metric units are prefered, but I'll take what I can get. My aim is to approximate the ease of swapping an L15A into my insight. Thanx in advance.

Haha, you're so funny. The best way to get this info is to measure it yourself. I'm not trying to be mean... its just that people have different methods of measuring with varying degrees of accuracy and consistency. You might be able to score some info in Honda's service manual.

I agree, measuring it myself is best. I have searched out two dealers already. One, wouldn't let me test drive the car, nor measure it. The other doesn't have fits currently. I am searching out other dealers, but my time off is limited. Hence the post. Even someone elses rough measurments are better than nothing.

That's super cool of you. ^_^ I wished that I was closer so I could take you up on that.

*Note- I've edited my post to be a little less intimidating. I've found that I need less measurments than I origonally thought.

Three days ago stopped a stranger and got him to open up his hood. Unfortunately, he was short of time and had to go after only a quick peek at the engine bay. It was good just to see it up close.

MMmmm... good point ^_^ I'm in Hastings Michigan- it's centrally located between grand rapids, kalamazoo, and battle creek. I'll update my profile to match. Good catch ppls.

Side note- My dealer still has no manual versions in stock. The ONE Fit they had was an automatic for a customer, so I didn't even get to look at that. This was almost a month ago- I'll check in with them again soon (right after I get done working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week).

Researching it more, I found some specs on the older civic hybrids. If I'm correct, they have 2 valves per cylinder and 8 spark plugs and are the 1.3 i-DSI engines. If I could get my hands on one of those to look at it would also be helpful. I'd rather have the V-tec (even if it is only v-tec e), but having no power to the wheels is starting to get to me. Thanks for your support.

I have a MT Sport. When I get home, if I remember, I can take some measures for you. And pics.

Sweet- Thanks! ^_^ If the pics are too large er whatever to post here, you can email them to me at either hyperanimespeed@gmail.com or neotek52@hotmail.com I'm not sure what those email clients allow for file size, but I'm guessing it's larger than here.

Pics and measurments of the motor mounts would help me out the most- especially on the engine side of things. 2nd to that would be the half shaft lengths, and thirdly the diameter of the tranny @ the engine.

I appreciate it~
-Eric

P.S.- Do your air intake runners go from on top of the engine/valve cover down to the block, or from the middle of the engine up?

So, I got some measurements from searching around the Honda Insight forums (of all places). This is a comparison between an Insight and a Fit:

..................................5S.............. ...............Auto
................................Insight........... ...............Fit "S"
Engine Bay Width.......34 1/8".........................33 1/4"
(Frame rail to rail)
Engine/Trans L...........30"...............................32 1/2"
Engine W...................16"........................... ....16"
Engine H....................23".......................... .....25 1/8"

Track.........................56.5"............... .............57.3"

The engine bay is actually bigger in an Insight, ha.

Does anyone want to post pictures of their Fit engine bays for me? I could use pics of all three engine mounts where they bolt to the engine and trans. Thanks ^_^
